Job Description Role: Business Support Officer Location: Home-based Hours: Part-time 17.5 hours per week / 2.5 days equivalent Contract: 18 month fixed-term contract Reporting to: Head of Finance & HR Date prepared: February 2026 The Farming Community Network (FCN) is a voluntary organisation and charity that aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people in farming and provide support at times of difficulty and change. Each year the charity supports approximately 10,000 people in the agricultural sector with a wide range of issues – including family relationship challenges, mental ill-health and managing change. Business Support Officer You will be part of a small, friendly central team, reporting to the Head of Finance & HR. Your role is to support the functions of the Senior Leadership Team, providing essential support to the operations of the charity. You will assist the Head of Finance & HR in the day-to-day administrative functions of the charity and will use Advantage Fundraiser to record donations to aid Gift Aid claims. You will co -ordinate and administer the donations and be responsible for the charity mailings. You will also work closely with the other senior members of the FCN team to promote the work of FCN. This will include helping to keep the FCN FarmWell website up-to- date by uploading new content. You will be familiar with Microsoft Office applications, and you will be technically confident in communicating with other staff members over Zoom or Teams. Key responsibilities: The Business Support Officer will be responsible for taking ownership of the following: • Obtaining and collating income from various online sites weekly, splitting out to identify the total income of each fundraising campaign. To reconcile the amounts from the reports to the amounts received by FCN. • Responding to donations with written thank you letters on a weekly basis and investigating and responding to enquiries about funds raised. • Regularly and accurately update Advantage Fundraiser database with changes relating to donors and record income received to help with Gift Aid claims. • Producing mailings four times a year, working with an outsourced mailing company, keeping a record of income received from each mailing to monitor the success. • Assist with documenting step-by-step guidance on the use of systems and procedures. • Answer incoming telephone calls and assist with admin support required by the CEO. • Organising, attending and minuting quarterly management meetings. • Obtaining all missing receipts relating to FCN credit card transactions. • Supporting with uploading and removing content on the FarmWell website (farmwell.org.uk). • Supporting with marketing, merchandise and fundraising enquiries as appropriate • Working alongside the Senior Leadership Team (including CEO, Operations and Communications and Partnerships) to support on a wide range of tasks as required by the role. Key skills and experience required: • Good interpersonal skills. • Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail. • Computer literacy including a working knowledge Microsoft office software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and CRM databases such as Advantage Fundraiser. • Excellent organisational skills and deadline achievement. • Able to work on own initiative and also as a key team member supporting with administrative tasks. Salary for this role: £15,000 per annum at 2.5 days per week *At times you will be expected to visit and attend meetings at FCN’s national office at Bragborough Hall Business Centre, Northamptonshire.
