Trinity House works for the benefit and safety of all mariners as a General Lighthouse Authority and maritime charity. Our people are central to our reputation as a leading maritime organisation, as is our commitment as an employer to developing the skills, capabilities and potential of our workforce.

As our Business Support Officer (Commercial), you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of Trinity House’s commercial services. These include marine aids to navigation contracts and tourism operations at our lighthouse visitor centres and holiday cottages.

Working as part of a small and dynamic team, you will help ensure these activities run smoothly and efficiently, supporting the generation of commercial income that contributes to the General Lighthouse Fund.

This is a fast-paced, varied role requiring strong organisation, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. You’ll support a range of activities, from contracts and visitor operations to financial and administrative tasks, often balancing several at once. Success in this role depends on clear communication, collaboration, sound judgement, and a proactive approach to keeping operations running smoothly, even when priorities shift.

You will provide day-to-day support to the Commercial and Tourism Services team, including:

• Managing enquiries from internal and external stakeholders

• Monitoring budgets, issuing invoices and tracking payments

• Supporting the coordination of commercial contracts and site-sharing agreements

• Assisting with research and preparation of business proposals

• Organising exhibitions, events and travel arrangements

• Maintaining records, reports and the commercial services risk register

• Supporting the operation of lighthouse visitor centres and holiday cottages

• Monitoring customer feedback and helping resolve operational issues

You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation as well as external partners, helping keep a wide range of commercial and tourism activities running smoothly.
