Purpose of the role
West Kent Mind delivers a wide range of services with and on behalf of people experiencing mental health problems. This role is responsible for growing and retaining income from West Kent Mind’s workplace wellbeing training and Changemaker Programme through proactive business development, strong account management and high-quality delivery oversight. Alongside commercial growth, the postholder will lead and support fundraising campaigns and initiatives that strengthen our unrestricted income and profile in the community.
The postholder will manage key accounts end-to-end (from first conversation through renewal), ensuring clients experience a professional, values-led service that demonstrates impact and encourages repeat business and referrals. The role also ensures that delivery is effectively coordinated and quality assured, working closely with trainers and internal colleagues to provide a reliable, scalable and high-quality offer.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development (Workplace Training)
Generate and convert new business for workplace wellbeing training and the Changemaker Programme, from first enquiry through to confirmed booking/contract.
• Proactively build and manage a pipeline of prospects, using networking, partner relationships and outbound activity to create opportunities.
• Lead sales conversations with prospective organisations, understanding needs and recommending the most appropriate training and/or Changemaker package.
Prepare and coordinate quotes, proposals and supporting documentation, ensuring accurate pricing, scope and timelines.
Work with colleagues to identify and pursue strategic routes to market (e.g., chambers of commerce, local employers, professional networks and commissioners).
2. Account Management, Retention & Growth
Act as the primary relationship manager for key workplace training and Changemaker clients, providing responsive, professional communication and clear next steps.
Develop and deliver an annual account management plan for Changemaker clients, including scheduled touchpoints, progress reviews and impact updates.
• Identify and progress renewal, engagement and other fundraising/ partnership opportunities.
Manage contract dates, renewal points, engagement levels and risks to retention, escalating early where intervention is needed.
• Collect and curate client feedback, outcomes and testimonials to strengthen retention, marketing and future sales.
3. Delivery Coordination & Trainer Resourcing
Coordinate delivery once booked: scheduling, trainer allocation, joining instructions/materials and accessibility requirements.
Coordinate and schedule associate trainers as required, ensuring they are briefed and equipped for quality delivery.
Maintain simple records of trainer availability, delivery history and feedback to support ongoing improvement.
4. Fundraising Campaigns & Income Initiatives
Support the planning and delivery of fundraising campaigns and income initiatives (e.g., community challenges, events, appeals and corporate fundraising), working closely with colleagues, volunteers and trustees.
Identify and cultivate corporate fundraising opportunities (including employee fundraising and cause-related marketing) that complement the Changemaker offer.
Support the creation of compelling fundraising content and supporter stewardship, including impact stories, case studies and thank-you communications.
5. Systems, Data & Reporting
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date training and client records on the CRM.
• Track delivery metrics including:
o sessions delivered vs sold
o client engagement and satisfaction
o renewals, churn and repeat bookings
• Produce clear operational reports for senior management and trustees.
• Work with Finance and Digital colleagues to ensure GDPR-compliant handling of data.
Person Specification
Experience
Significant experience in business development, account management and/or income generation (e.g., training sales, partnerships, corporate engagement).
Experience managing relationships with paying clients or corporate partners, including renewals, repeat income and/or account growth.
• Experience coordinating the delivery of services sold to organisations, ensuring a high-quality client experience.
Experience supporting or leading fundraising activity (e.g., campaigns, events, appeals, challenges or corporate fundraising), including working to income targets.
Experience working with systems, schedules and operational processes (e.g., CRM, tracking, reporting).
Knowledge
• Understanding of service delivery models and fulfilment.
• Understanding of quality assurance and feedback processes.
• Awareness of commercial drivers such as retention, renewals and recurring revenue.
• Understanding of GDPR and handling confidential information.
• Knowledge of mental health and wellbeing services (essential).
• Understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults, young people and children
• Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion within service delivery
Skills
• Exceptionally strong organisation, coordination and follow-through skills.

Strong relationship management and communication skills, confident with external clients/supporters.
Campaign planning skills, including setting targets, creating simple plans/timelines, coordinating activity and tracking performance (fundraising and/or marketing campaigns).
Confident writing or adapting persuasive messages for different audiences (e.g., supporter communications, corporate proposals, impact updates, thank-you stewardship).
• Confident working with data, CRM systems, schedules and operational reporting.

Terms & Conditions
Holidays
23 days per year (calculated pro-rata for part-time employees) increasing by 1 day for each year of service to a maximum of 30. Bank holidays are also calculated on a pro-
mind West Kent
rata basis, these are discretionary and do not form part of your contract of employment.
Pension
We operate a contributory pension scheme, which you will be auto-enrolled into (subject to the conditions of the scheme).
Probationary period
This is usually 6 months but may be extended for a period of no more than 12 months.
