We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and inspiring Business Apprentice, who will work within our Marketing and Fundraising team.

About the job

Location: Exeter

Employment type:  18 months fixed term, with potential to extend to become permanent

Hours of work: 37 hours per week all year round, including 1 day, day release to Exeter College in term time only

Positions available: 1 post

Salary:  £15,438.00 Salary is based on the National Minimum Apprenticeship rates, and is age dependent for the 2nd year of employment

We have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to work with our Fundraising and Marketing team to support events, create social media and marketing materials, and provide administrative and fundraising support. We are looking for a candidate who wants to start their career in Marketing and Fundraising, develop their skills, and engage in an 18-month Apprenticeship programme, the outcome of which would be a Business Administration Level 3 qualification.

What is the role

  • General Administration:Provide administrative support across the organisation, including managing the main phone line and maintaining electronic records.
  • Fundraising Support:Track donations, monitor the central grants inbox, draft donor correspondence, and manage renewals for fundraising subscriptions and memberships.
  • Data & Compliance:Maintain real-time updates on donor databases and grant tracking systems while working closely with line managers to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Marketing & Social Media:Assist in creating marketing materials (e.g., using Canva), schedule social media posts, monitor online engagement, and support website and newsletter updates.
  • Event & Volunteer Coordination:Provide support for events including managing guest lists and RSVPs and maintain up-to-date listings for volunteer and funding opportunities on third-party platforms.

About You:  

  • Committed to achieving Level 3 Business Administration qualification in a negotiated time scale

  • Confident in using social media and various IT softwares (Google sheets, database systems, etc)

  • Creativity and solution focused thinking

  • Experience with design tools such as Canva and has an eye for detail

  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Ability to multitask, set priorities and reach out when you need help and support

  • Be able and willing to travel

  • Passion for supporting and advocating for the rights of young people

  • Has achieved a GCSE grade 4 in English and Maths or an equivalent qualification or is willing to complete functional skills alongside their course
