Derby’s Diocesan Board of Education (DBE) has a very exciting senior role in its forward-looking team. Through the Director and officer team, the DBE works to support schools and the church to enable the delivery of distinctive and excellent church school education; all within the context of the ever-changing educational landscape and the diocesan mission to young people.
We are looking for a Business & Operations Manager to lead the business and operational functions of Derby DBE and facilitate the team’s work to support schools and parishes, meeting the Board’s charitable and strategic aims.
We are particularly keen to receive applications from candidates of global majority heritage as they are currently under-represented in Derby DBE.
This is a full-time post at a senior level although part-time working would be considered for an exceptional candidate. Office hours are 08:30 - 16:30. However, flexibility is needed as occasional evening working will be required. A Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) policy is operated.
Salary: £37,500 - £42,500 negotiable depending upon experience
Pension: The Diocese offers a non-contributory 9.5% Defined Contributions Scheme
Life Assurance: 2 x annual salary payable for death in service, subject to pension enrolment in the Church Workers Pension Fund
Annual leave: 30 days per annum (including 5 set concessionary days) plus bank holidays
Probationary period: 6 months
Free car parking: Anyone using Church House to work can park in the cathedral car park (St Michael’s Lane). This is not a contractual benefit.
Eye tests: Due to the extensive usage of Display Screen Equipment, the DBE will pay for an eye test, up to the value of £30, every 2 years.

The post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
