The Data Team at IRC is responsible for the design and delivery of data technology and data programs at the IRC. Our team is committed to high-impact results by encouraging relationships across the organization, driving continuous improvement, and delivering value through the implementation of high-quality, strategic data programs.

Are you passionate about turning data into a strategic asset? Do you thrive at the intersection of business and technology? We're looking for a talented Business Analyst to join our Data team and play a pivotal role in shaping the data and AI foundations that will power our organization’s future.
This is a rare opportunity to get in at the ground floor of a high-impact Data & AI Transformation program. You'll be a core member of the Data Transformation Working Group, driving the definition and standardization of critical business data that directly feeds into cutting-edge AI initiatives and enterprise analytics.
You'll act as a vital bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams — translating complex business needs into clear data definitions, governance standards, and structured models within Databricks and our wider analytics ecosystem. Your work will:
- Establish a single source of truthby formalizing agreed business definitions into the Enterprise Data Catalog
- Directly enable AI— providing models with consistent, well-governed terminology that improves accuracy, data quality, and explainability of AI outcomes
- Shape what gets builtby partnering with Product Managers to define and manage product and project roadmaps
- Drive alignmentacross business and technical teams, ensuring data governance requirements are accurately reflected in how data is modelled and used
Data and AI are at the top of every organization’s agenda — and this role puts you right at the heart of it. You'll gain hands-on exposure to enterprise AI delivery, modern data platforms, and cross-functional stakeholder engagement, all while doing work that has a tangible, visible impact in the humanitarian space.
Responsibilities:
Engage with stakeholders to gather insights into business objectives, processes, and pain points.
Capture, analyze, and document comprehensive business and functional requirements, secure formal approvals.
Perform gap analysis to compare current processes, client needs, and system capabilities.
Define data requirements and processes while tracking related project deliverables and timelines
Document current-state processes and design future-state processes resulting from data transformation initiatives.
Support project planning, scope definition, and requirement prioritization.
Participate in solution design discussions and provide business input to ensure requirements are met.
Map business requirements to technical capabilities and identify system constraints and dependencies.
Identify and propose new process improvement opportunities.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation.
Support deployment and ongoing management of the Enterprise Data Catalog.
Translate business definitions into technical metadata for tables, columns, schemas, and datasets in Databricks / Unity Catalog.
Evaluate incoming project requests and technology investments through a strategic lens by conducting gap analysis to inform executive decision making
Implement project management frameworks, steering committee structures, and RACI models that enable technical delivery in line with strategic business needs.
Perform business stakeholder management acting as a conduit between business and technical teams.
Link business terms to data assets, dashboards, reports, and other data products.
Act as liaison between business users and data engineers to translate requirements into technical specifications and support data modeling.
Work with data owners and stewards to validate data classification and ensure correct application in Databricks/data catalog.
Assist in mapping and documenting source systems, data pipelines, data products and datasets
Participate in testing and validation of delivered solutions to ensure requirements are met.
Job Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Management, or related experience.
Work Experience:
Minimum 3-6 years of professional experience as a Business Analyst providing high quality and advanced analytics in private sector
Proven track record in leveraging leading-edge digital tools, providing advanced analytical reports, and proactively working to help promote data-driven strategic insights
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
Knowledge of process improvement tools like Visio.
Experience working with Agile methodologies.
Project management experience is a plus.
Non-profit and international humanitarian aid experience is a plus
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent technical skills, including strong experience with SQL, complex relational databases, BI tools, and data visualization.
Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to devise creative solutions to complex problems and issues.
Demonstrated ability to maintain positive, collaborative, productive relationships with diverse key stakeholders across the organization.
Strong communications skills with the ability to listen and converse effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues on reporting analysis and insights.
Ability to build and maintain high-quality technical documentation
Sound judgment in maintaining confidentiality of donor and key internal business information.

The position can be fully remote, with an in-person office setting available for candidates located near IRC’s office location in London and New York City.
Ability to travel as required
The Business Analyst will collaborate closely with team members based in the United States and must maintain a minimum of 3 hours of overlapping work time with the New York time zone.
