About the role
You will work on long‑term organising and recruitment projects, building sustainable workplace structures and empowering members to take an active role in our campaigns. You will identify and support workplace activists, engage potential members, and help deliver UNISON’s organising strategy across the Eastern region.
What we’re looking for
The successful candidate will bring:
- Strong skills in one‑to‑one communication, recruitment and organising
- Experience in campaigning and motivating others
- The ability to inspire confidence and build relationships across diverse workplaces
- An understanding of trade unionism and UNISON’s values
- Previous experience as a recruiter, organiser, or campaigner (desirable but not essential)
Location
- BSOF 109: One vacancy within the Strategic Organising Team, based in either Chelmsford or Bury St Edmunds, depending on the successful candidate’s location
Travel
You will need to travel within the region as required, including to our Bury St Edmunds and Chelmsford offices, and occasionally to London for training or other purposes.
Additional information
The Strategic Organising Team is currently working on a regional multi‑academy trust project. For this post, it is desirable (though not essential) that annual leave is taken during school holiday periods.
