Recruiting Board Members for

Kent MS Therapy Centre Charity

The Kent MS Therapy Centre’s purpose is to support those in our community living with Multiple
Sclerosis and other neurological conditions. The centre’s home is a purpose-built building housing a
hydrotherapy pool, a gym, treatment rooms, two oxygen therapy tanks, self serve café and beautiful
gardens.

The Charity is focussed on its strategic aims, built around four key pillars:

• Our Priorities – Creating a welcoming, inclusive Centre with a strong identity, where we make

the best use of our spaces and resources.

• Member Experience – Putting your needs at the centre of everything we do and ensuring you

receive the highest quality of service.

• Our Way – Building on what works, making a bigger impact, and working in partnership with

others.

• Our Team – Fostering a culture of growth, learning, and continuous improvement, where

everyone feels they truly belong.

This strategy will help us unlock the full potential of the Centre – ensuring we continue to deliver the
very best support while securing a sustainable future.

The Charity is entirely self-funded through income and donations and needs to raise in the region of
£850,000 per year.

We are looking for new board members to strengthen the team and replace those retiring. Please
come and visit the centre to see what we do.

Who we are

The Charity aims to improve the lives of those living with MS and other conditions, their families and
those who care for them and to be recognised as the next point of contact following diagnosis by:

•
the provision of specialist clinics – including physiotherapy and hydrotherapy
• providing gym, specialist exercise classes as well as yoga, aqua yoga and Pilates
• providing a range of complementary therapies
• giving advice, support, and information to those living with MS, their carers, and families, in

an environment which encourages mutual support and friendship

• providing a community of peer support
•

supporting and enabling self-management of neurological disease

In 2024 560 distinct individuals benefitted from Kent MSTC and there were over 12,410
attendances/visits to the Centre.

The next three years promise to be an exciting journey for the Charity and the Centre. The Kent MS
Therapy Centre is a special place – and together, we really can grow stronger.

The Role

We have a skilled and supportive team of trustees who work with the CEO and leadership team to
enable the staff and volunteer workforce to support our centre. Our trustees play an important role
in providing the strategy for the centre, holding the executive to account, and helping them to manage
issues that arise. We have started 2025 financially healthy and ready to take on the challenges facing
us. It is an exciting time to be part of our organisation.

We would love to meet with you if you:

• Enjoy working as part of a team and can bring a new perspective to the board.
• Consider challenging the status quo and provide constructive feedback.
• Respect views, values and cultures that are different from your own.
• Are willing to commit a minimum of 12 days per year.

Previous board experience is desirable but not essential. We are looking to recruit trustees from the
following professional backgrounds:

-

-

Experience and understanding of the health sector and supporting those living with
neurological conditions
Experience and understanding of Marketing and Communications
