About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and Bioinformatician to join Cellular Genomics Informatics at the Wellcome Sanger Institute for a 2-year fixed term contract on exciting projects focused on supporting the science in our programme. The new team members will work on the daily support of faculties, the tailoring of workflows to different projects and the management and coordination of the generated data. You will work closely with a mix of computational and wet-lab researchers in the single-cell field. You will support interactions with PhD students and Postdocs that are part of our faculty and help them with general and analysis and IT guidance.
About Us:
The Cellular Genomics Informatics team provides efficient access to cutting-edge analysis methods at Cellular Genomics programme of the Sanger Institute, which leads a number of world-class research initiatives like the Human Cell Atlas. Our team’s focus is the development and operation of large-scale workflows, tools and infrastructure for data analysis that support the programme’s research goals.
Key responsibilities of the roles:

You will support bioinformatics analysis and interpretation of large-scale multi-modal genomics data.

Collaborate with the scale of computational models to analyse and interpret data, to understand cell type and tissue function.

Contribute to the data management for reproducible analysis and single cell data analysis for integration pipelines.
About you:
You will curate, manage and perform high quality computational data analysis of genomics data to answer specific single cell question. In addition to strong communication skills, you will be highly creative, flexible and organised with a logical and diligent approach to information gathering.
You are a detail-oriented problem solver eager to learn and develop in the areas in which you have less experience. Teamwork and collaboration are essential aspects of this role, and you will be enthusiastic about creating effective and productive working relationships with collaborators both within and outside the team.
Essential Skills:

Experience in Bioinformatics or a related discipline, specifically working with Next Generation Sequencing data

Proficient in a high-level programming language (Python or R)

Familiar with UNIX environments and bash scripting

Experience working with code versioning tools (GitLab/github)

Ability to work independently and organise own workload

Motivation and ambition to make a personal contribution to GRL research

Excellent communication skills to allow efficient interactions with collaborators

Team player with the ability to work with others in a collegiate and collaborative environment

Salary per annum (dependent upon skills and experience): £36,924-£43,867
