A new opportunity has arisen for a Biodiversity and Trees Manager within the council. This role will oversee delivery of a high quality, customer-focused ecology, biodiversity, ranger and tree service.

Since the council declared an ecological emergency in 2021, we have been working hard to protect, enhance and create areas for biodiversity and to manage our trees effectively. Our natural habitats and open space are a key feature of the borough, with internationally important chalk streams, species rich grassland, wetlands and a rich diversity of trees and woodlands. Working alongside the landscape, grounds maintenance and planning teams, you will have a central role in shaping the natural environment of the borough and the council’s response to the ecological emergency.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who will lead and deliver a forward-thinking biodiversity and tree service. You will have significant relevant experience in the biodiversity, land management and/or arboriculture sector, strong working knowledge of relevant legislation and a proven experience in leading, motivating and managing a team.

This position would best suit someone who wants to make a difference but who understands how to achieve this in a local authority setting. The role will involve working with colleagues, members, external bodies and partners.
