Tŷ Hafan is a beautiful children’s hospice located on the picturesque Vale of Glamorgan coastline. Covering South, East and West Wales, Tŷ Hafan offer a newly refurbished working environment set within idyllic grounds just a short distance from the metropolitan area of Cardiff.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Bereavement Support Facilitator to join our friendly, dedicated team at Tŷ Hafan. This is a part time role of 30 hours per week, with a requirement to work flexibility over weekends and evenings. The role is based at the Hospice but requires travel across South Wales to meet the needs of the service.
About the role
Due to expansions in our offer of services, we are looking for a passionate and driven candidate to join our family support team and expand our existing bereavement support services.
The Bereavement Support Facilitator will play a key role in delivering compassionate, holistic support to families experiencing anticipatory grief and bereavement. You’ll assess individual needs, facilitate theory-informed therapeutic groups, and coordinate a range of bereavement support activities across the hospice and community settings. From organising meaningful memorial events to ensuring equitable access to support and maintaining therapeutically focused online content, you’ll help families feel heard, supported, and connected at every stage of their bereavement journey.
Hours for the role are 30 hours over 4 days. Applicants will be required to work flexibly, weekend and evenings will be required to accommodate service.
About you
- Qualified with a NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant area, and training in adult bereavement support.
- You can work flexibly, with a full driving licence and willingness to travel across Wales.
- A personable and approachable individual that is confident working in emotionally challenging situations.
- Experienced in planning and facilitating therapeutic or bereavement‑focused groups and events.
- Adaptable communication skills to suit different audiences and can read both verbal and non-verbal cues.
- Knowledge of grief and bereavement theory and how to use this to form therapeutic groups.
- Strong organisational and assessment skills, with the ability to work independently across different settings.
- Confident in using Office 365, databases, and social media in a professional context.
About us
Ty Hafan’s ambition is that when a child’s life will be short, no family should have to live it on their own. We are experts in caring for children with life-shortening conditions. Our services support families in the hospice, in community settings, local hospitals and in the family home. We understand that every child and family is unique, and that caring for a child with complex needs can be incredibly demanding. Our aim is simple: to ensure no family faces their child’s short life alone.
Our colleagues, volunteers and supporters play an essential part in delivering this mission. Every role contributes to the lifeline we provide.
Our Vision: A Wales where every child with a life-shortening condition lives a fulfilling life, supported with the compassion and specialist care they and their family need.
Our Purpose: No family should have to face the unimaginable loss of their child alone. With children and families at the heart of all we do, we provide free care and support in our hospice and in the community, offering a lifeline throughout the child’s short life, at end of life, through bereavement and beyond.
