Behaviour Support Line Officer

Do you have knowledge and experience of canine behaviour with a confidence in supporting and helping others?

We are looking for someone to join our team who can be the first point of call for dog owners facing behavioural and training challenges, you will offer initial support and apply your extensive behavioural knowledge to resolve issues efficiently within a short call.

What does this role do?

In the role of Behaviour Support Line Officer you will:

  • Provide telephone and web-chat support to dog owners facing behavioural or training challenges. This includes discussing their concerns, offering first-aid and/or preventative advice, and directing them to relevant online resources.
  • Where appropriate, you will provide clear and practical guidance to help resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Update the CRM with clear and concise records of each call or interaction.
  • Be able to recognise when more in-depth intervention is needed and recommend suitable training or behaviour support packages, beginning with an assessment by a Clinical Animal Behaviourist or Behaviour Coach.

Could this be you?

Someone who is confident in supporting others and is able to apply extensive behavioural knowledge to be able to provide guidance and direct callers to relevant online resources, recommend a one on-one training package for further assessment by a Dogs Trust Clinical Animal Behaviourist or Behaviour Coach or refer them to an appropriate behaviour, training, or medical professional. 

Experience in providing phone-based behaviour advice on a variety of behavioural and training issues with a strong understanding of canine behaviour and training principles, with the ability to quickly assess the factors contributing to behavioural issues.

We offer a comprehensive suite of services, including training and behaviour support, customer support, and outreach programs, all designed to assist individuals facing challenging situations. The department’s aim is to give compassionate support to allow both dogs and their owners to thrive, even in the most challenging circumstances. Through our services, we strive to reduce the impact of challenging situations on people and dogs.
