Befriending Assistant
15 hours per week, £26,936 per annum pro rata
1-year fixed-term contract
Are you organised, compassionate and committed to improving the lives of older people?
Age UK Barnet is seeking a Befriending Assistant to support the delivery of our highly valued Befriending Service. Working closely with the Home Support Manager, you will act as a key point of contact for clients, referrers and volunteers, helping to ensure older people receive the companionship, social connection and practical support they need.
The role includes coordinating referrals, maintaining accurate records and databases, supporting volunteers, and assisting with the day-to-day administration of the service. You will also help raise awareness of the service within the community and provide cover for other Home Support services, including our Shopping and Handyperson Services, when required.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills, a good understanding of the challenges faced by older people, including those living with dementia, and strong administrative abilities. You should be confident using databases and spreadsheets, able to work independently, manage a varied workload and deal with sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older people across Barnet while becoming part of a friendly, supportive and dedicated team.
Age UK Barnet is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, pregnancy or maternity status. We are committed to safeguarding adults at risk and children from abuse and neglect, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
