Job Description Food Service/Kitchen Assistant Title: Bank Food Service Assistant/Kitchen Assistant Bank Accountable to: Catering Manager/Duty Cook Salary: £12.60 per hour/£13.45 wef from 1 Apr 26 Purpose of the job: Under the direction of the Catering Manager to contribute to the provision of a high-quality 1. catering service that appropriately meets the needs of service users, club members, staff, and visitors and to assist as necessary with the day-to-day operation within the department. To ensure the standards of hygiene and cleanliness of the restaurant / kitchen areas are 2. maintained to meet legal requirements. Main key responsibilities are: • Assist in preparation and serving food for residents, staff, and visitors. • Prepare dining area for service. • Operating dishwasher, cleaning equipment and kitchen area • Replenish stock. Tasks: 1. To assist as directed with all aspects of preparation and presentation of food. To serve service users, staff, and visitors to Deafway in the appropriate manner, promoting a 2. friendly and welcoming atmosphere, including cash sales. To relieve all other duties due to absence / holidays / sickness as directed by the Catering 3. Manager. To prepare and assist at any special functions which may sometimes be outside of normal 4. working hours. To ensure statutory regulations pertaining to the safe and hygienic operation of the kitchen 5. and ancillary areas are adhered to by all members of staff and visitors. 6. 7. 8. To ensure the security of stores. To accept deliveries and complete associated paperwork. To ensure all legislative paperwork is completed on each shift. To report, and where possible take action, for any incidents, loss, theft, damage, unfit food 9. or other irregularities. 10. To ensure kitchen and restaurant cleaning schedules are adhered to and assist in the completion of these tasks. 12. To carry out end of shift locking up procedures ensuring security of buildings, where necessary. 13. To ensure professional conduct observing the Deafway Code of Conduct. 14. To work effectively as part of a team and support all colleagues as required. 15. To observe and report any potential problems and concerns relating to the welfare or wellbeing of residents, including safeguarding concerns. Health & Safety: 1. To assist in promoting and maintaining own and others’ health, safety and security as defined in the Health & Safety Policy, Fire Procedures, Food Hygiene and updated practices and procedures as they become necessary. 2. 3.
