Are you a confident, compassionate nurse ready to make a real impact in substance misuse recovery?

We’re recruiting a Part-Time Band 6 Substance Misuse Nurse in Chelmsford (12 hours per week) to join a dedicated multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality care in a residential service in Chelmsford.

You’ll play a key role in supporting individuals with complex drug and alcohol needs, delivering evidence-based care, leading clinically, and helping shape recovery journeys in line with the NMC Code and best practice guidelines.

What you’ll be doing

  • Delivering high-quality nursing assessments, care planning, implementation and evaluation for substance-dependent clients
  • Managing a caseload with autonomy and strong clinical accountability
  • Administering and overseeing safe medicines management, including risk-based decision making
  • Working closely within a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless, person-centred care
  • Undertaking risk assessments across clinical, safeguarding and behavioural areas
  • Supporting service development, clinical audits and continuous improvement
  • Acting up and providing leadership support in the absence of senior clinicians

 

What we’re looking for

  • Registered Nurse (RGN/RMN) with experience in substance misuse, mental health or complex care
  • Confident working independently in a high-responsibility clinical setting
  • Strong understanding of risk management, safeguarding and clinical governance
  • Passion for recovery-focused, trauma-informed care
  • Leadership potential with the ability to support and supervise junior staff
