About this role

We're looking for Associates, on a zero-hours contract basis, to provide additional resource as and when required within the doctoral team at Metanoia Institute, supporting the next generation of researchers in psychotherapy, counselling and counselling psychology.

We're seeking experienced, research-active professionals to join our Research Degrees team as Associate Research Supervisors. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vibrant doctoral community by providing high-quality supervision, academic guidance and pastoral support to doctoral candidates throughout their research journey.

What you'll do

Working closely with the Head of Programme and the doctoral teams, you'll supervise doctoral researchers, provide expert feedback on research development and academic writing, and help ensure students progress successfully through their doctoral studies.

You'll also collaborate with fellow supervisors and contribute to the academic and research reputation of the Institute through your own scholarly activity and engagement with the wider research community.

Recruitment process

We welcome applications from experienced, research-active practitioners and academics who are passionate about supporting doctoral research and contributing to a thriving scholarly community.

To apply, please read the job description and, if you feel you have the required experience and knowledge, submit the following to people@metanoia.ac.uk:

  • A current CV
  • A covering letter outlining your supervisory and research experience
  • Details of your professional registration and recent publications

Indicative timeline

Applications will be reviewed as they are received by the Academic Team Leaders. If your application meets the requirements of the role, you'll be invited to interview.

We encourage you to apply as early as possible. Recruitment will remain open until the Academic team has appointed a sufficient number of Associate Research Supervisors, at which point the campaign will close.

Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging

As an organisation founded with social justice at its core, we welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability. We believe that when we work together, we can enable change and make things happen, and we do this by encouraging all our colleagues to be their true selves in the workplace. We learn from each other to create an inclusive organisation.

Final considerations

As a UK-based Institute, all our roles are based within the UK, so you'll need the right to work in the UK and be able to provide proof. Unfortunately, we're unable to offer visa sponsorship.

We know that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming part of daily life and you may want to use it to help prepare your application. While AI can be a powerful enabler, and we're open to you using it, we ask that anything you submit genuinely reflects your own capabilities and viewpoint. We value honesty, integrity and creativity and want to understand what you'll uniquely bring to our team.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you're interested, we'd encourage you to submit your application as early as possible.
