Associate Priest – Manor Parish

An exciting opportunity to work as part of a creative team to support the mission and development of the parish with a particular focus on the pastoral care of existing and new church congregations and communities.

The Manor Parish is a diverse, eclectic and inclusive parish broadly within the liberal Catholic tradition in a challenging part of the city of Sheffield, where opportunities for mission are immense. It has three church buildings, each with their own distinct roles in the community. The parish has ambitious plans to grow new congregations, develop outreach and nurture its civic and social role in the community and so it is seeking an Associate Priest to work with the incumbent and lay team to:

  • Oversee and shape a new midweek community at St Aidan’s Church formed around morning drop-ins that support local people, followed by a lunchtime Eucharist.
  • To participate in and support the rhythm of prayer and worship in the parish, including preaching and presiding regularly across the churches.
  • To conduct occasional offices in the parish, alongside other clergy.
  • To have a particular responsibility for building up the funeral ministry in the parish, including building strong relationships with local funeral directors and cemetery and supporting, training and equipping volunteers including vergers and lay readers who support this part of parish life.
  • To identify, together with the Team Rector, an area of civic/community life to have a particular focus on, and to develop a role in that area.
  • To appropriately utilise Prayers of Love and Faith where requested.
  • To be strong and steadfast in faith and in commitment to the people of the Manor.
