Hours of work: 40 hours per week

Four days out of seven; two days off during the weekdays plus one day off during the weekend. Straight shifts.

Salary: £29,588, plus £1,730 p.a. Oxford Weighting Allowance.

 

The Role:

We are currently seeking an experienced and best-in-class Assistant Under-Butler for the Senior Common Room (SCR). The Assistant Under-Butler plays a key role within the SCR team, as the role is fully operational and requires a completely hands-on approach to ensure the smooth running of our hospitality operations.

The hours required for the role are designed specifically to offer an exceptional family-friendly work–life harmony, with a working week consisting of only four days out of seven: two days off during the week and one day off at the weekend. All shifts are straight, with overtime opportunities available.

The Senior Common Room comprises seven separate rooms. At present, we look after 280 dining members plus their guests, serving an average of 150 members per day across breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner. Led by the Head Butler, the postholder will be responsible for the day-to-day preparation of dining and meeting rooms; the supervision of part-time, casual, and agency staff; the management of the wine cellars; and the maintenance of our excellent standards of service provision to members and guests, ensuring a consistently high-quality service experience.
