Joining Woodgreen as part of our dynamic Retail team you will help raise funds to enable our organisation to support every pet to have a home where they are loved, well cared for and enjoy positive relationships with their owners. You will be coming into the organisation at an exciting time, did we mention we're proud to be the set for Channel 4's 'The Dog House' award winning show?

As Assistant Shop Manager at our Newport Pagnell charity shop you will work as part of our shop management team as they continue to strive for excellence. Joining on a 4 month fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave, you will join a community supported shop that regularly takes part in Newport Pagnell's local events, and even organises their own to raise funds for pets and their people.

Taking full responsibility in the Shop Managers absence, alongside your own designated tasks you will;

  • maintain continual high standards of shop presentation, back of house operations and customer service.
  • present and maintain the highest standards of shop and window merchandising and visual layout.
  • recruit, train, motivate, manage and support the creation and development of a loyal and engaged team of volunteers.
  • Ensure maximum stock availability through the processing of donation received in the shop
  • be responsible for compliance, record keeping and cash handling
  • be a brand ambassador for Woodgreen to work with the local community to raise awareness and engagement for our cause.

This opportunity has a working pattern of 10.5 hours a week working all day Sunday and on a Wednesday between 10am and 2pm. The salary for this position is £7,343.70 pro rata per annum (equivalent to £13.45 per hour). It is important to note that as Woodgreen Charity Shops are open 7 days a week there may be the opportunity, from time to time, to provide cover to support holiday or absences for your Shop Management team or area should you wish to do so.

Due to the nature of this role there will be an element of manual handling and physical activity involved. You may also be required to work alone from time to time. For this reason we are unable to accept applications from anyone under the age of 18.
