Assistant Producer
Reporting to: Senior Producer
Department: Producing and Programming
Working with: Marketing & Communications, Watford Palace Young Company, Business & Community Team, Technical Production, Front of House
Salary: £30,000
Contract: Full-time, permanent. 40 hours over 7 days (Monday to Sunday) and including some evening and weekend working. For hours worked over the contractual hours Watford Palace Theatre operates a TOIL system.
Location: Watford Palace Theatre
Holiday: 21 days per annum, plus UK Public Holidays rising to 25 days after 5 yearsof continuous employment
Notice period: 2 months following a probationary period of 4 months

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE ROLE
Watford Palace Theatre is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and hands-on Assistant Producer to work collaboratively within the Producing team, supporting the Producer and Senior Producer to keep the department running smoothly and effectively.
The role will perform vital administrative tasks, support produced work and be responsible for the programming across some of our spaces. They will also lend administrative support to the programming of the main auditorium.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Producing
Produce events in 1908 Cabaret and Studios 1 & 2 as required with the support of the producing team.
Draft contracts for the producer.
Create contact lists and welcome packs for productions.
Assist on producing admin for producitons.
Programming
Manage incoming requests regarding programming.
Research and recommend potential work for programming.
Draft booking memos and contracts for programmed work.
Lead on programming for the 1908 Cabaret space and Studios 1 and 2.
Lead on scheduling for the team.
Liaise with Marketing to ensure all assets are avaialble for programmed work.
Administration
Manage diaries and attend meetings as required by the producing team.
Assist the producing team with ad hoc admin support.
General
Be an ambassador for Watford Palace by attending press nights, scratch night and any industry and PR opportunities as appropriate.
Ensure WPT policies are observed in every areas of you work.
Maintain departmental financial records & assist with project budgets

PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL
Previous experience working in a theatre environment for either a producer or a venue OR demonstrable knowledge of theatre production.
Excellent adminstration and organisational skills.
Strong communication skills.
Problem solving and planning skills.
The ability to priortise workload and use initiative.
A good knowledge of the current theatre ecology and the place of regional theatre within that.
A passion for theatre and theatre audiences.
A commitment to diversity and inclusion throughout your work.
A passion for collaborative working.
DESIRABLE
Experience of working in a producing theatre or company.
Knowlege of the mid-scale touring sector.
