Assistant Operations and Hospitality Manager Location: On site at Hope Mill Theatre, Manchester Contract: Full time 30 hours per week (evening and weekend work required) Salary: £22,620 Overview Hope Mill Theatre is seeking a dynamic, proactive and highly organised individual to assist in the smooth and efficient day to day running of the venue. This is a key leadership position that combines venue management with operational oversight, playing a vital role in ensuring the theatre continues to thrive as a welcoming, safe and inclusive space for audience’s artists and staff. This is a very hands-on public facing role that requires the applicant to work at the forefront of the hospitality and front of house department either on the bar or in the kitchen while managing staff and volunteers alongside the operations and hospitality manger to ensure productions and events run efficiently. Key responsibilities • To support the running of all front of house and box office activity, ensuring all audience members and visitors receive a warm, safe and professional welcome • To maintain front of house and service standards in terms of cleanliness, quality and staff training in accordance with all health and safety and venue policies. • To manage and work alongside the bar and front of house team with the hospitality manager to ensure smooth running of shifts and continuity of service. • To ensure all front of house team members follow correct procedures in customer service, emergency situations, health and safety and safe handling of sales and stock. • To lead regular check-ins with staff and volunteers and deliver ongoing training to ensure knowledge and consistency across the department. • To support the producing team in the coordination of in-house and visiting projects, liaising with the creative teams to support access, rehearsals and performances. • To assist on coordinating all aspects of private hires, weddings, rehearsals and external events taking place at the venue; including scheduling, staff coordination and front facing communications. • • To be a key holder, opening and securing the venue as required including locking up at the end of the evening events or performances. • To assist in the recruitment and training of a pool of casual staff and volunteers across front of house, box office and bar. • To lead the kitchen and food element of the department including preparation and cooking in compliance with all relevant policies and procedures while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service. • To act as an ambassador for hope mill theatre while maintaining a friendly and informative presence promoting the values and mission of the organisation to artists, audiences, clients and visitors, • To proactively contribute ideas to improve operations, efficiency and customer service in line with hope mill theatre’s wider goals and values. • To assist in the running of the box office aspect of the department; answer customer queries via email and phone and actioning request through the spektrix ticketing systems.
