The Retreat Clinics is seeking an Assistant Clinician as part of our Autism & ADHD service, to support and embed themselves within the clinical team as part of an assessment and support pathway. The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working in a healthcare environment and be familiar with the challenges faced within a community setting along with the ability and confidence to make clinical triage decisions in accordance with defined guidelines.

You will be a committed and empathetic team player who is passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals.

The post is a 12-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of becoming permanent, 22.5 hours a week; working days Tuesday to Thursday. Salary £17,003PA.

You will be working for a value-driven organisation that makes a difference and is focused on helping to improve the lives of our clients. Our adult Autism and ADHD service provides NHS funded and Right to Choose assessments for adults seeking an autism and/or ADHD diagnosis.

We also provide NHS funded specialist psychological therapy for neurodivergent clients, as well as both private and NHS funded occupational therapy. We are committed to providing accessible and inclusive services to our clients, in line with our core values of compassion, collaboration and community building.

You will support our Adult Autism & ADHD service in both our diagnostic and therapeutic pathways, providing you with a varied and stimulating workload. You will work alongside a dynamic and passionate multidisciplinary team comprising of Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Nurse, Psychiatrists, Senior Clinicians, Post Diagnostic Lead and administrative support.

We also work with Experts by Experience who provide invaluable input for our clients from a lived experience perspective.

You will work closely with the Clinical Leads and Service Manager to develop shared understandings of clinical processes and service improvements for clients and colleagues. You will also support our trainees by providing guidance and mentoring to continue developing their competencies. There will be opportunities to create and contribute to special projects, continuing to develop and enhance a service that provides quality client-centered interventions. You will also receive protected CPD time and opportunities to further enhance your professional development. There will also be opportunities to facilitate CPD sessions for the wider team such as teaching and/or shared learning.

Essential

  1. Experience in Autism/ADHD – Minimum of 2 Years
  2. Confident in decision making according to defined guidelines
  3. Knowledge of supporting people with Autism/ADHD within an outpatient/community setting
  4. Competent in the basic use of IT computer use (Microsoft packages, CRM etc.)
  5. Effective communication skills
  6. Ability to manage own caseload under supervision

Desirable

  1. Degree level education, not essential if substantial knowledge in other areas
  2. Experience in report writing in a diagnostic setting
  3. Experience of employment within a healthcare setting
  4. Teamworking experience
  5. Experience of contributing to assessments that include risk assessments.
