About the department

We’re looking for a Music Tutor to bring creativity, energy, and inclusivity to our arts programme at Sense Scotland. This peripatetic, three-day per-week role will focus on delivering a timetable of weekly music sessions across diverse settings and venues - includes Saturdays.

We offer a wide range of activities—from arts and music to physical and social pursuits—aiming to foster personal growth, community involvement, and individual independence.

In this role, you’ll lead and facilitate engaging music sessions, both one-to-one and in groups, ensuring everyone—regardless of ability or experience—has the opportunity to explore, create, and express themselves through music. Your sessions will be designed to boost confidence, communication, and well-being, making music both accessible and enjoyable for all.

You’ll also:

  • Design and deliver dynamic workshops tailored to the interests and needs of participants.
  • Promote music sessions both internally and externally, helping to grow our vibrant arts community.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to expand opportunities and enhance the music programme.
  • Share your skills and ideas, working alongside the wider arts team to develop innovative and accessible music tech and inclusive sessions.
  • Ensure a welcoming and well-maintained music space, taking care of instruments, equipment, and resources.
  • Document progress and celebrate achievements, providing feedback that helps shape future sessions.

About you

You are a creative, music tech literate, adaptable, and passionate music practitioner who believes in the power of music to engage, inspire, and connect people. Whether leading a group session or working one-to-one, you can design and deliver activities that are accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for all.

What you’ll bring:

  • A strong interest in designing and delivering music sessions and events for groups and individuals.
  • Musical ability or aptitude, whether through formal training or practical experience.
  • Great communication skills, with the ability to engage with people of all backgrounds and abilities.
  • The confidence to use your initiative and tailor sessions to meet the changing needs of participants.
  • A flexible approach, adapting to different communication styles and preferences.
  • A collaborative mindset, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive team environment.

What will make you stand out:

  • An understanding of how disability can impact a person’s life.
  • Experience working in a similar setting.
  • Additional creative skills (e.g., song writing, digital music production, performance) that could enrich the sessions.
  • Ability to travel and facilitate across diverse settings and venues

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, enthusiastic, and inclusive music practitioner who believes in the transformative power of the arts. If you’re passionate about making music accessible, inspiring people, and being part of a dynamic team, we’d love to hear from you!
