UNISON South West is looking for an Area Organiser to join the Organising Team based in our Exeter office.

The successful candidate will bring their experience and skills to the role and be able to develop and deliver recruitment and organising initiatives and campaigns across the region, train and develop stewards, undertake case work, advise, support and mentor branch officers and/or regional activists.

You will have excellent presentation skills and communication skills, both face-to-face and on paper. A sound understanding of trade unions and their objectives is essential along with a good understanding of UNISON’s policies and objectives.

You will be required to live within reasonable travelling distance of the area you are asked to cover.

Work will be “field” based, in and around member workplaces. Activity is generally within teams, but there will be some lone working. Some desk bound administrative work will also be required.

You will need to be able to travel within the geographical location of the region and possibly to London for meetings/training as required.
