We are looking for an Apprentice Support Worker, an opportunity to work with residents within our Assessment Hub, Newport, Isle of Wight. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, a good communicator, passionate and positive.

Job Summary:

The role is within The Salvation Army 17-bed Assessment Hub, Howard House. You will work collaboratively within the Hub, developing the services’ multi-agency approach and supporting residents to progress on their individual journeys through the stages of the Isle of Wight Homelessness Pathway.

Key Responsibilities:

As Apprentice Support Worker you will work towards Adult Health & Social Care Worker Level 3 standards over a 21 month fixed term contract. You will learn to develop and deliver a high-quality person-centred programme of support, promoting client’s strengths, independence and choice. You will learn the necessary skills to address client support needs, enable them to achieve positive life changes and ultimately empower them to lead fulfilling lives. The role includes meeting with clients on a one-to-one basis, working alongside clients to address emotional and psychological trauma, substance misuse, mental health, physical health and wellbeing. This will include writing and updating support plans and risk assessments and dealing with queries both face to face and over the phone.

The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to work well in a team
  • Positive attitude and a high level of motivation towards supporting vulnerable clients to achieve focussed and positive life outcomes
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Be solution focused and show good time management skills.
