Main purpose and scope of the job
The Adolescent to Parent Abuse Lead is a key member of the team, working to support children and young people displaying unhealthy and abusive behaviours. The work will focus on preventing and breaking the cycle of domestic abuse by providing one-to-one support and delivering preventative groupwork for children and young people in the community
It is essential that the postholder has a driving licence and access to a car for work purposes as this role covers multiple sites across Hampshire.
- To work collaboratively with children and young people, to identify needs and manage risk in an age-appropriate way.
- To work with children and young people on a one-to-one basis to decrease the frequency and intensity of abusive and/ or violent behaviour.
- To co-ordinate and deliver preventative groupwork to children and young people.
- Challenge the beliefs of young people presenting with abusive and controlling behaviours
- Increase understanding of attitudes towards unhealthy/ healthy behaviours.
- To support children and young people in identifying what is going well/areas they would like to improve within their life, directly relating to APA. Developing co-produced plans to support these goals.
- To work collaboratively with, parents, carers and or guardians, to identify and respond to the risks and needs.
- To identify, respond to and appropriately progress, safeguarding concerns relating to women, parents, children and young people.
- To undertake age-appropriate structured activities with children and young people, designed to promote healing and reduce harmful behaviour.
- To have an understanding of, and continue to develop your knowledge around the impact of adolescent to parent abuse/ violence.
