Anatomy Laboratory
Location: London, Bloomsbury Campus
£52.36 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
A maximum of 12 hours per week (FTE 0.32), over a 9-month period from September to June.

Context
The Faculty of Life Sciences (FLS) combines the strengths of UCL’s basic biological and preclinical sciences and is associated with 11 Nobel Laureates. Our work focuses on trying to answer some of the most enduring questions about life on earth, and also to solve the urgent problems faced by all living things. Main purpose of the job
The Anatomy Laboratory (AL) is a core facility that plays a significant role in the teaching of medical and science students throughout their years at UCL. It also runs courses for allied health students (e.g., Medical Physics; Osteopathy) and provides a venue for the teaching of specialist clinical courses. The role holder will be expected to deliver practical based anatomy teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students utilising cadaveric and prosected material, Anatomage table and imaging resources.
Duties and responsibilities
• To have sufficient knowledge of the syllabus topics to teach human anatomy to undergraduate and postgraduate science and medical students.
• To facilitate students' learning and encourage critical thinking and problem-solving.
• To support the students in developing professional skills in the anatomy lab, including dissection, teamwork, communication, reflection, record keeping, and handover.
• To help prepare, administer and mark assessments and conduct revision sessions.
• To be familiar with the Human Tissue Act 2004 and how this relates to anatomical examination.
• To agree to abide by the Anatomy Laboratory local protocol and ensure that all students under your supervision work in accordance with this protocol.
• To attend an HTA induction session at the start of the academic year.
• To facilitate the work of others in the Anatomy Laboratory and to establish and maintain excellent communication links with those in the laboratory.
• To leave the Anatomy Laboratory and other general areas tidy at the end of each session.
To be fully aware of and comply with the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology and UCL’s policies and procedures in relation to confidentiality, health and safety at work, COSHH regulations, infection control, security regulations and all local safety rules regarding fire, chemical and manual handling hazards, and to ensure that these are implemented and followed at all times.
• Maintain a good working knowledge of UCL, Faculty and Divisional policy and procedures, referring to appropriate colleagues for advice where necessary.
In addition to these duties, the post holder will be expected to be flexible in approach as well as support and work collaboratively with academic and Professional Services colleagues within the Division and Faculty as well as beyond.
