Description
Location: We are looking for volunteers to support us at our Hospice sites in Harrogate and Thirsk and also our HOME Team who are in the community providing care to people affected by terminal illness across Hambleton and Richmondshire.
Hours: As and when needed
Closing date: 21 st January 2026
What will you be doing?
We are looking for volunteers to support patients, staff, and services by assisting with essential access, safety, and transport needs during adverse weather conditions, in order to help maintain continuity of our essential care throughout our community.
The Adverse Weather Support Volunteer provides practical, short-notice assistance to help ensure the hospice can continue to operate safely and effectively during periods of poor weather, such as snow, ice, or severe conditions.
What we’re looking for:
· Volunteers who can work safely and independently in challenging weather.
· Be able to assist with the safe transport of community-based hospice staff to and from patients homes when in remote areas.
· Have access to a suitable business insured vehicle and hold a full UK driving license.
· Be physically capable of practical outdoor tasks, such as clearing snow or manual handling.

· If you are successful at interview, we will ask you to complete training before commencing your role.
· We will complete a DBS check and ask you to provide some information before you begin volunteering.
· Once these steps are completed we will agree your start date.
