Job Introduction
Turning Point are currently recruiting for an Advanced Recovery Practitioner; Trainer to join the Suffolk Drug & Alcohol service.
We are looking for someone to welcome and support new staff into our system and ensure they have the requisite training and skills in order to do their job effectively as well as representing the organisation externally to our partners throughout the county and delivering internal mandatory training. We are looking for an energetic, dynamic and enthusiastic team player with strong communication skills.
As a Advanced Recovery Practitioner; Trainer we offer a starting salary of £29,244 rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, rising to £33,880 per year. (Dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial starting salary).
We are a countywide service and you can be based at Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich or Lowestoft.

Role Responsibility
Contribute to National Training and Practice Lead Forums and maintain effective working relationships with Learning and Organisational Development colleagues to support the continuous improvement of learning initiatives.
Support the recruitment, induction and development of new staff by coordinating induction training plans with Team Managers and Team Leaders, ensuring appropriate rotational arrangements are in place. Provide coaching, guidance, support and performance monitoring throughout employees' six-month probationary period, including contributing to probation reviews, identifying training needs and supporting competency assessments and sign-off processes.
Deliver mandatory, bespoke and service-specific training programmes, working closely with the Safeguarding Lead to ensure all required competencies are achieved during probation. Facilitate and deliver core, bespoke and accredited training to both internal staff and partner agencies through face-to-face delivery and virtual platforms such as MS Teams.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with local partner agencies to identify emerging training needs and support the planning and delivery of external training programmes that meet local requirements through standard and tailored learning packages.
Provide ongoing coaching and constructive feedback to support individual and team development. Contribute to review, audit and quality assurance activities, evaluating the effectiveness of training interventions and supporting the continuous improvement of learning programmes through collaboration with Learning and Organisational Development colleagues and application of the learning cycle.
Ensure all learning and training records are maintained accurately and updated promptly within Explore. Develop and enhance training resources within your area of expertise for use across the wider team, supporting consistency and best practice in learning delivery.
The Ideal Candidate
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Training qualification (preferred)
- Knowledge of IT / digital systems
- Understanding of the Health & Social Care sector
- Knowledge, skills and experience of design and delivery of effective learning opportunities
- Knowledge, skills and experience relating to coaching and mentoring
