This is a new and exciting collaboration between Dementia UK and Age UK Buckinghamshire, seeking a specialist dementia nurse to join Dementia Support Bucks as an Admiral Nurse. Dementia Support Bucks is a dementia support service delivered by Age UK Buckinghamshire in partnership with Age UK Harrow, Hillingdon and Brent, supported by Buckinghamshire County Council.
Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses who offer expert practical, clinical and emotional support to families or professionals involved in the care of a person living with dementia with complex needs.
Main duties of the job
The Admiral Nurse will focus on three areas of delivery;
- Working within the Dementia Support Bucks service to support those living with dementia, their carers and their families, and influencing the wider dementia system locally
- Contributing to workforce development through provision of clinical leadership support and guidance to others on the delivery of evidence-based practice
- Reducing inequality of accessibility to dementia care through engagement in the wider community
You will be joining a well-established team with a strong reputation for excellence. The purpose of this role is to strengthen our dementia support for families and influence the wider dementia care system. The postholder will, therefore, demonstrate strong leadership skills, clinical expertise and innovation.
Dementia UK will support you to maintain and strengthen your clinical and leadership expertise as a specialist Admiral Nurse through regular clinical supervision and practice and professional development opportunities. You’ll become a welcome part of a network of Admiral Nurses, and will have the opportunity to access relevant post-graduate training and develop professionally, underpinned by the Admiral Nurse Practice Standards Framework.
