1.4 HOURS 0-40 hrs a week

1.6 RESPONSIBLE TO Lead Instructors

2. OVERALL PURPOSE

2.1 As part of the activities team you will lead activity sessions, manage bookings and checkins, respond to guest queries ensuring high quality and efficient customer service. You will maintain standards and safety to a degree of excellence as required by SW Lakes.

This position will require weekday and weekend work from May to August to facilitate hire and launch operation and school groups with occasional evening work.

3. KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

3.1 Deliver excellent customer service, welcome visitors and general public to site, acting as a point of contact and provide them with information and cross promotion of activities, camping and products.

3.2 Lead fun and engaging activity sessions in line with qualifications held.

3.3 Deal with enquiries from individual customers and organisations for activities and camping in person/ email/ social media and phone.

3.4 Adhere to South West Lakes Trust procedures and safety standards, i.e. safety boat procedures and session plans.

3.5 Assist in updating social media sites and responding to posts, taking videos and photos for social media.

3.6 Maintain activity and camping facilities, especially toilets and showers, to a high standard at all times.

3.7 Handling money for activities and camping facilities and any other outlet on site, in line with Trust procedures.

3.8 Follow procedures to maintain security of site.

3.9 Inspect and maintain centre equipment to standards demanded by RYA, AALA.

3.10 Accountable to the Activity Centre Manager / Lead Instructors for health and safety of colleagues, customers, contractors and self.

3.11 Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Trust.

4 SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE

4.1 Experience in instructing water and/or land-based outdoor activities.

CAPABILITIES

4.2 A good level of physical fitness.

4.3 Ability to teach and communicate with customers at all levels.

4.4 A good team worker

4.5 Smart personal appearance and professional image.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

4.6 The qualifications below must be held and in date.

DBS (SWLT will conduct a DBS check) Safeguarding, (e.g. RYA Safe and Fun) First aid at work

Minimum of one of the following recognised Governing Body instructor qualifications:

BC Paddlesports Instructor or Paddlesports Leader RYA Dinghy Instructor or Senior Dinghy Instructor RYA Start windsurfing Instructor or Senior Windsurfing Instructor RYA Powerboat instructor

Desirable:

4.7 RYA Powerboat Level II or RYA Safety boat or willing to undertake training

4.8 Additional instructor qualifications from above list or list below:

RYA Wing-Foil Instructor Archery GB instructor ERCA High ropes instructor

4.9 Willing to undertake in-house instructor training in archery and raft building.

4.10 A knowledge of land based recreational activities, bushcraft and camping, and an interest in conservation.

4.11 Experience and competent using online booking systems

4.12 Current clean UK driving licence
