We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and organised Activities Coordinator to join our Retirement Living team, supporting tenants at our retirement living service at Wohl Court in Hendon.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of older people by creating and delivering a varied programme of activities, events and social opportunities that promote wellbeing, independence, social inclusion and community engagement.

Working closely with tenants, families, volunteers and colleagues, you will develop person-centred activities that reflect individual interests, abilities and cultural needs while helping residents maintain meaningful connections with Jewish life and the wider community.

This post is working 20 hours per week Monday to Friday, with some flexibility to support with festivals and events on occasional weekends.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Planning, coordinating and delivering a diverse programme of recreational, educational, therapeutic, cultural and social activities.
  • Supporting tenants to maintain independence, wellbeing and meaningful social connections.
  • Organising outings, events, celebrations and activities that reflect Jewish festivals, traditions and cultural life.
  • Developing activity support plans and risk assessments tailored to individual needs.
  • Encouraging participation and ensuring activities are inclusive and accessible for people with varying abilities, including those living with dementia.
  • Recruiting, supporting and coordinating volunteers who contribute to activity programmes.
  • Building strong relationships with families, carers, community groups and external partners.
  • Producing newsletters and communications to promote activities and engagement.
  • Monitoring participation, gathering feedback and evaluating outcomes to continuously improve services.
  • Managing activity resources and budgets in partnership with the Registered Manager.
  • Ensuring activities and outings are delivered safely and in line with organisational policies and procedures.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Experience of planning and delivering activities within a health, social care or community setting.
  • Experience of working with older people, including those living with dementia.
  • Experience of working with both individuals and groups.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with families, carers, volunteers and community organisations.
  • Experience of creating risk assessments and activity support plans.
  • Knowledge of delivering high-quality activity and social inclusion programmes.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with tenants, colleagues, volunteers and members of the community.
  • A flexible and positive approach, including occasional evening and weekend working.
  • Commitment to providing an excellent customer experience and delivering services aligned to Jewish Care's values.

Desirable

  • Relevant qualification in activities, recreation, health, social care or a related field.
  • Experience of managing volunteers.
  • Experience of working with Jewish older people, including Holocaust survivors and refugees.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, Promoting Independence or equivalent.

  • Enjoys working collaboratively with tenants, families, volunteers, catering, maintenance teams, community centres, Rabbis and local synagogues.
  • Is confident building partnerships within the wider community.
  • Has strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Can manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work consistently.
  • Is flexible, including occasional Sunday working (approximately once per month) and attendance at special events.
