1. JOB DESCRIPTION
1.1 JOB TITLE Activities and Camping Supervisor
1.2 SALARY £13.10 per hour
1.3 LOCATION Upper Tamar Lake
1.4 HOURS Average 24 hrs per week to include weekends, evenings and bank holidays.
1.5 DATES Fixed term until 30th September 2026.
1.6 RESPONSIBLE TO Activities Business Support Officer
2. OVERALL PURPOSE
2.1 To support the operation of a safe, efficient and profitable Activities Centre, coordinating hire and launch activities. To be responsible for the operation of the campsite. Working closely with the Activities Business Support Officer, assist in the development of all site activities, balancing recreation and conservation targets of the site.
2.2 Be responsible for maintaining all water craft and equipment at your centre and ensure regular maintenance and condition monitoring is undertaken and record.
3. KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1 Support the operation of a successful, profitable and safely managed multi-activity Centre.
3.2 Manage and deliver activities on site as per South West Lakes Normal Operating Procedures.
3.3 Work with the Activities Business Support Officer to coordinate client bookings for activities and camping, site maintenance and cleaning.
3.4 Liaise with other site stakeholders with regards to day-to-day running of the Centre and all activities.
3.5 Work with the Activities Business Support Officer to ensure that all activities adhere to recognised Trust and National Governing Body safety standards.
3.6 Support development of a reliable and trustworthy team of staff at the Centre; maintaining a current list of staff qualifications and details; controlling staff rota to ensure adequate staffing at all times.
3.7 Ensure that all enquiries regarding watersports, camping and angling are dealt with and excellent customer relations are maintained.
3.8 Maintain Centre equipment and documentation to standards required for RYA and AALA inspections. Work closely with key activities employees regionally to ensure consistency of high standards.
3.9 Ensure all water craft and equipment is properly maintained in line with manufacturer’s instructions, undertake regular monitoring of maintenance and condition, ensuring accurate and detailed records are kept. Take prompt action to quarantine craft and equipment not meeting required standards and organise appropriate repairs and maintenance in consultation with the Head of Activities as required.
3.10 Work closely with the Activities Business Support Officer to ensure appropriate risk assessments are in place and regularly reviewed and that agreed procedures and processes are being followed and monitored.
3.11 Assist the Activities Business Support Officer in dealing with suppliers and ensuring money, invoicing and relevant paperwork from all activities are accurate and follow strict Trust financial controls and procedures.
3.12 Liaise and co-operate with all other water users and operations on site.
3.13 Responsible for ensuring site security and keeping safety/maintenance records of all equipment.
3.14 Responsible for ensuring site, buildings and facilities are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness at all times.
3.15 Assist in raising the profile/development of the Centre
3.16 Be accountable for health and safety of colleagues, customers, contractors and self.
Carry out such other duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Trust.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, CAPABILITES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Essential:
4.1 Powerboat qualification to RYA Safety Boat level.
4.2 Proven, previous experience of working in the watersports industry.
4.3 Proven ability to communicate with customers at all levels.
4.4 Valid First Aid qualification.
Preferred:
4.5 RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor and/or Senior Windsurfing Instructor.
4.6 Administration experience.
4.7 A paddlesports qualification in canoeing, kayaking or SUP.
4.8 Current valid UK driving license.
