UKCEH is looking for an Accounting & Reporting Finance Business Partner to join our 700-strong team, contributing to scientific discovery and generating the data, insights and solutions that researchers, businesses and governments need to solve complex environmental challenges.
In this new role we’re seeking a qualified accountant to join our Accounting & Reporting function as a Finance Business Partner. Your role is vital for the development and delivery of our organisational strategy ensuring our future financial sustainability.
Your core role will be to support delivery of our Accounts and Financial Reporting (both internally and externally), along with a proactive role to maintain and develop relationships with key function stakeholders, ensuring a deep understanding of their financial and operating performance. This will include working across our Charity, Enterprise and International functions.
We are looking for someone with a track record in Finance and a passion for environmental issues alongside the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders and drive successful project delivery.
Reporting to the Accounting & Reporting Manager your main responsibilities will include:
- Supporting production of accurate monthly and quarterly Financial reporting across UK and International entities
- Supporting production of annual report and accounts in accordance with applicable accounting standards
- Supporting production and filing of all finance related returns including Corporation Tax, Charity Commission, Companies House, Office of National Statistics
- Acting as key contact for technical finance queries from stakeholders, understanding accounting standard changes and impact.
- Providing annual external audit support
- Providing ad hoc accounting support with analysis and insight to facilitate decision-making and business planning
- Reporting variance vs. budget and forecast, alongside quarterly analytical reviews and longer-term financial planning
- Working closely with our Project Accounting and Support teams to improve accuracy of accounting on projects and commercial initiatives
- Driving continuous operational change to improve project delivery and process efficiency
For the role of Accounting & Reporting Finance Business Partner, we’re looking for somebody who has:
- A recognised professional accountancy qualification appropriate to the role e.g., CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA, etc.
- Practice or audit experience
- A proactive approach to producing, analysing and communicating financial reporting and management information
- The ability to challenge the status quo and looks for ways to continuous improvement
- A keen interest in the environment and environmental issues
- The ability to develop and maintain successful relationships with wide range of stakeholders
- Has excellent communication and engagement skills
