About the role
Looking to develop professionally, connect with a community of subject experts and further inspire your teaching? AQA is recruiting A-level Economics examiners for summer 2026.
You will receive full training from our expert team and take part in online standardisation, which opens for a two-day window so you can complete it at a time that suits you. The activity typically takes a few hours to complete and fits comfortably around existing commitments.
As a new examiner, you will mark a reduced quota of 90 to 110 scripts depending on your paper, with around a month to complete the work. Full details of your quota and earnings will be confirmed when you receive your contract.

What you need
• At least three full terms teaching your chosen subject and level within the last five years. We welcome applications from trainee teachers and ECTs for Economics, subject to requirements.
• A senior referee who can verify your relevant experience.
• Preferably a degree, teaching qualification or equivalent in Economics.
• Availability during the marking and standardisation period. Please note key dates for 2026:
Paper 1: Markets and Market Failure
Standardisation open: 22 and 23 May
Marking period: 24 May to 25 June
Paper 2: National and International Economy
Standardisation open: 30 and 31 May
Marking period: 1 June to 3 July
Paper 3: Economic Principles and Issues
Standardisation open: 14 and 15 June
Marking period: 16 June to 10 July
