Background
16 Days of Action against Gender Based Violence (GBV) is a key campaign at Strathclyde Students’ Union. For many years, we have been the lead organiser of Fight for the Night, an annual march in solidarity with survivors of Gender Based Violence. The 16 Days intern will assist in delivering an effective campaign and programme of events for 16 Days of Action, including supporting Fight for the Night.
Reporting to the Voice Manager, the intern will carry out research and engage with a range of student groups including Elected Officers, clubs and societies, to shape a programme of activities for 16 Days of Action. They will also conduct a review and report at the end of the internship, with recommendations for future years.
Aims of Internship Project
- Working alongside Strath Union staff and student representatives to assist with the development, promotion, and delivery of a programme of activity for 16 Days of Action prioritising student voice and co-creation .
- Raising awareness of and engagement in 16 Days and related activities.
Main Activities/Responsibilities
- Working with Strath Union staff to plan, organise, promote, and deliver an engaging programme of activity around 16 Days
- Working with students to co-create activities, events and communications for 16 Days that prioritise student voice.
- Attending regular organising meetings, tracking actions and minute taking.
- Working closely with Student Engagement staff, alongside the student executive team and elected student representatives.
- Liaising with student officers and staff from other Glasgow-based Students’ Unions.
- Preparing a final report outlining key activities undertaken and reflection about the internship experience itself.
- Supporting the work of the Voice team and other Strath Union campaign activity.
