HOUSE PARENT JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: HOUSE PARENT - ISS Responsible to: Welfare Manager Main Purpose: The House Parents are responsible for working closely with the Welfare Manager (and Deputy Welfare Manager) to ensure excellent standards of pastoral care for the pupils on the summer school programme. House Parents are the figurehead of the house, ensuring that all pupils enjoy a warm, welcoming, supportive atmosphere, and that the house is run smoothly to protect the safety and wellbeing of international pupils within the boarding house. Course Dates: The course in 2026 will run for 4 weeks, and we will be offering contracts of varying lengths, depending on the candidates’ availability and experience and our student numbers. All candidates must attend on-site induction prior to the start date (outlined below). If candidates have holidays, weddings, graduations etc booked, they must mention this at the interview stage. Time off for such events cannot be guaranteed otherwise. The course is run on the Senior School campus (Sedbergh), with three London trips running throughout the course. The work within the schools has grown and it is now essential to appoint a full-time Project Development Worker to bring increased leadership within the project.
PURPOSE
Reporting to our Ministry at the Margins Lead, this role involves developing and leading the existing work begun within Merkinch, South Kessock and the Inverness High School catchment.

To achieve this, we want to identify someone with a vibrant Christian faith who understands life for young people within a priority community. Previous experience is desirable, however not essential. Our Sessional Workers come from many different backgrounds and experiences, and you may have the skills required. Sessional work is on a casual basis and a specific number of hours each week cannot be guaranteed. Successful applicants will be added to a pool of Relief staff to provide cover as and when needed. Flexibility is required to provide cover required and may include full days, half days, overnights and weekends.
The service is based close to Eccelsall Road/Sheffield Hallam Collegiate Campus area of Sheffield, it is easily accessible. Situated in a large Victorian Building, fully refurbished in 2022, there is free on-site parking as well and is also easily access by multiple bus routes.
