The School of Nursing and Allied Health (SoNAH) has a number of new academic posts as the school grows and expands its provision of Nursing, Allied Health, and Health and Social Care programmes.
This post is to support the work of the Health and Social Care team, predominantly with learning and teaching on the BSc Health and Social Care, which is a well-established course at Newman.
Candidates should have up-to-date knowledge of Health and Social Care and a commitment to creating an inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated, and everyone is afforded equality of opportunity. We particularly welcome candidates with expertise in any of the following areas:

HOUSE PARENT JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: HOUSE PARENT - ISS Responsible to: Welfare Manager Main Purpose: The House Parents are responsible for working closely with the Welfare Manager (and Deputy Welfare Manager) to ensure excellent standards of pastoral care for the pupils on the summer school programme. House Parents are the figurehead of the house, ensuring that all pupils enjoy a warm, welcoming, supportive atmosphere, and that the house is run smoothly to protect the safety and wellbeing of international pupils within the boarding house. Course Dates: The course in 2026 will run for 4 weeks, and we will be offering contracts of varying lengths, depending on the candidates’ availability and experience and our student numbers. All candidates must attend on-site induction prior to the start date (outlined below). If candidates have holidays, weddings, graduations etc booked, they must mention this at the interview stage. Time off for such events cannot be guaranteed otherwise. The course is run on the Senior School campus (Sedbergh), with three London trips running throughout the course. Roles and Responsibilities: House Parents will be responsible for completing the following roles, with the help of their assigned Assistant House Parent(s), to whom they will offer guidance and direction: • Establishing a positive and welcoming atmosphere in the House, demonstrating superior pastoral care and discipline of students, ensuring that their safety and physical and emotional wellbeing is the top priority. • Ensuring appropriate standards of behaviour are always upheld in the House, managing pupil conduct and behaviour, to promote harmony within the boarding house. • Ensuring active management and supervision of all pupils during mealtimes to provide a pleasant dining experience for all pupils. • Ensuring roll calls, registers, fire drills etc. are undertaken as required by legislation. • To be an integral part of the team welcoming pupils and their parents/guardians on arrival and supporting pupils and their parents/guardians on departure. • Ensuring that wake up and bedtimes are observed as laid out in the Schedule. • Carrying out daily room checks, ensuring that the boarding houses are kept clean and tidy, providing a safe, homely environment within which pupils feel comfortable. • Reporting any damages to the Operations team as necessary. • Informing pupils about the housekeeping and laundry protocols, ensuring that cleaning and linen changes are completed according to the agreed schedule. • Undertaking communication with parents and agents by email, phone and in person when necessary, and as directed by the Course Director. • Attending daily meetings with the Welfare Manager. • Performing simple first aid, referring any student requiring medical attention to the Welfare Manager. • Ensuring any sick pupils in house are cared for while they are unable to attend lessons/activities. • Contributing to weekly progress reports for all pupils in advance of their departure. • Assisting with the extra-curricular programme where necessary. • Liaising with kitchen/operational staff to ensure sufficient supplies of snacks and drinks are maintained in the House. • Advising relevant team members of any changes made e.g. advising of changes to bedtimes. • Ensuring all pupil data is stored or destroyed in line with GDPR policies. • Ensuring the campus is closed after completion of the course, and returned to its original state, to include all school facilities and equipment. • Assisting at any time, whether on duty or not, with an emergency or where a student is injured or unhappy. • Any other tasks as required to ensure the smooth running of the International Summer School. The Youth Employability Service
CXK delivers the Youth Employability Service (YES) across East Sussex, commissioned by East Sussex County Council. We offer information, advice, support and guidance to young people in academic years 12 and 13 who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), helping them to explore their options, plan and then take their next steps. We also work with schools supporting young people in year 11 who are at risk of becoming NEET. Liaising with a range of other services, YES is focussed on supporting young people to achieve their potential.
The Team
The YES team support young people from across the county, seeing them at CXK bases, partner venues or in community settings. The team assess and action plan with young people referred to the service, supporting them to understand their options and take steps toward achieving their goals around education, training and/ or employment. Working with a wide range of young people, the team approach is focused, creative and persistent, building on young peoples’ confidence and motivation alongside their skills and personal growth.
The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Support Adviser.
The Youth Support Adviser (YSA) is a key role in the Youth Employability Service, acting as the first point of contact for 16-18-year-olds who are NEET or at risk of NEET. You will support with first appointments and initial assessments of need, when young people are referred to YES, alongside supporting your caseload. Guiding them through re-engagement with suitable post-16 provisions and provide targeted intervention to those who have withdrawn from or not started their Post 16 provisions.
Working across the East of the county with schools and FE Colleges you will play a key role in ensuring that young people — receive the tailored guidance and support they need to progress confidently into further education, training, or employment. About the Role
The Young Person Criminal Justice Practitioner plays a vital role in supporting young people affected by substance misuse and involvement in the Criminal Justice System. Working within Insight Lewisham, the post holder will deliver targeted, evidence-based interventions designed to reduce harm, address offending behaviour and support long-term positive change.
The role involves working across the full journey of a young person’s engagement, from assessment and risk management through to intervention, recovery planning and onward support. You will work closely with young people, their families and a wide range of partner agencies to promote resilience, improve wellbeing and reduce reoffending.
This position requires a proactive, trauma-informed approach, strong safeguarding practice and the ability to build trusted relationships with young people who may have complex needs. Flexibility is essential, including participation in evening clinics on a rota basis.

Teaching Fellow in Small Animal Primary Care

We have an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Fellow in Small Animal Primary Care, within the LIVE Centre in the Department of Clinical Science and Services (CCS). We are looking to recruit a teaching fellow to contribute to the clinical teaching in the rotation phase of our undergraduate veterinary courses as well as provide small group teaching in the Principles of Veterinary Practice strand. We invite applications from individuals with expertise in small animals, and familiarity with primary care practice in the UK. The post holders should expect to develop and deliver teaching with the aim of preparing and supporting students undertaking clinical rotations and to assist in the delivery of and reflection on feedback. The role involves primary care clinical work in addition to coordination, teaching and assessment of veterinary students.
You will be based on our Hawkshead Campus but may also be asked to support teaching in other clinical facilities associated with our clinical teaching, and so should be prepared to travel. You will work closely and collaboratively with rotation leaders and other members of the clinical team to deliver the learning objectives of our primary care-focused rotations that run throughout the year. The role will involve extensive interactions with colleagues and students and require excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The role involves being hands on with the children in the setting (ranging from babies to pre-schoolers) joining in with play, reading stories, singing songs and being alongside the children in their day-to-day activities.
Your role will also involve developing a relationship with the parents and carers of the children and being able to talk to them about all aspects of their child’s day in nursery. As part of the team, you will also be involved in planning activities for the children in your care and maintaining health and hygiene standards as you go about your daily tasks.

Qualifications required-
Level 5 PBS Qualification is essential and willingness to work to level 6/7 or ABA qualification with minimum one year working PBS experience

Community Integrated Care supports individuals with a wide range of needs and in many cases, people whose needs and histories mean that individuals can reasonably be predicted to present with behaviours that challenge.
The organisation’s current approach to significant behaviour is to use the least restrictive practices to support the individual through stressful episodes and as such the relevant colleagues are trained in the MAPA (Managing Actual and Potential Aggression) model of interventions (licensed through the Crisis Prevention Institute). However, the aspiration is to for the organisation to adopt the recovery model approaches of Active Support and Positive Behavioural Support which advocate a more proactive approach to prevention and reduction of behaviours that challenge and overall improvement to quality of life outcomes.
The successful candidate will possess excellent writing skills, as well as strong verbal communication skills. Furthermore, the candidate should also possess strong computer skills (e.g., formatting Word documents, creating Excel spreadsheets), and should have experience in conducting research. Additionally, the candidate should have knowledge of care standards and social care legislation. A knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint is preferable but not essential as this can be trained.
You will have experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external agencies
Given the nature of this role there will be a requirement to be flexible in working hours and travel on a regular basis.

We are four churches working together to set up a unique project in east London, connecting with young people and their families through church music, both traditional and modern. We have sufficient funding to resource this project well for five years, in which time we hope to grow four new ministries through music, one at each of our churches.
We are looking for a special person to work with our musical director on a full-time basis, to make this project a success. You don’t need to be a musician at all, but you do need to be someone who is good at relating to and caring for young people, a capable self-starter who is confident with social media. We seek someone who is imaginative and able to work well with others to achieve aims, who knows how to be accountable and who loves God.
Your role will be to work with our musical director to set up each group, to recruit to each group, to liaise with families, to help host each group, to act as a link into church life and to provide interesting and imaginative opportunities for young people and their families to find out more about God.
This is a genuinely unique and well-resourced role which could prove extremely satisfying for someone who is happy to work flexibly with, and champion, a range of church traditions. The post will require regularly working on Sundays and some early evening work.
We offer six weeks’ annual leave, a starting salary of £33,000 plus pension contributions, regular management and oversight meetings and reimbursement of travel between venues.
