You should have a strong understanding of the issues faced by individuals at risk of homelessness and the skills to support them in maintaining their tenancies. You will have experience working with people with a range of mental health conditions, including dual diagnosis, and demonstrate the ability to communicate with empathy, dignity, and respect. A solid understanding of safeguarding and how to respond appropriately is essential.
Experience working with individuals who have experienced homelessness, rough sleeping, or temporary accommodation is required, particularly those with complex needs such as substance use, mental health issues, and offending histories. The candidate should be familiar with recovery principles and approaches, and committed to empowering service users to make informed choices and work toward independence.
You must be able to work both independently and as part of a team, including supporting the induction of peer staff and volunteers. An awareness of lone working and health and safety practices is important, alongside motivation to uphold professional standards and use management and peer support to maintain resilience. Good IT, literacy, and numeracy skills are essential, including proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and email communication.

Project Description
Rapid Rehousing is based around the ethos that housing is a human right and differs from traditional supported housing and homelessness provision that places a number of conditions on people to prove that they are ready for independent housing.
Following similar principles set out by the Housing First model, Rapid Rehousing is a housing led approach with CTI critical time interventions to successfully support people with repeat histories of homelessness, who experience multiple disadvantages, into independent and stable accommodation, through the provision of intensive wrap-around and trauma informed support.
The principles of Housing First are:
- People have a right to a home
- Flexible support is provided for as long as is needed
- Housing and support are separated
- Individuals have choice and control (restricted housing choices with RRH)
- An active and assertive engagement approach is used
- People are supported to identify their strengths, goals and aspirations
- A harm reduction approach is used
Purpose of Role
The Rapid Rehousing Worker will be responsible for coordinating and providing a flexible person centred, solution focused service, applying an assertive engagement and positive risk-taking approach, using Housing First principles but with a view to rapidly addressing a person’s housing need. Within legal, moral and ethical boundaries, Rapid rehousing provision relies on staff being committed to the ethos, applying a ‘can do, will do’ approach, that focuses on the long-term goal of creating sustainable tenancies and maximising connectivity with the local community. The Worker will be working in a capacity to enable clients to access the services and interventions they need to build their resilience, gain confidence, reduce harm and acquire the personal and social skills they need to meet their aspirations and sustain their tenancy.
The successful applicant will be expected to:
- Manage a caseload and establish open and trusting relationships
- Deliver support and drop in sessions in temporary accommodation settings including bed and breakfasts
- Deliver trauma informed support
- Advise on, liaise with and facilitate access to other agencies including; Housing Options, Registered Social Landlords, Private Rented Sector, Adult Social Services, Criminal Justice Services and Drug and Alcohol Services.

Safer Futures Support - A little about our current programmes:
The SUsie Programme (The Susie Project) provides trauma informed psycho-educational support to people recovering from domestic abuse. This support programme is tailored towards enabling clients to recover and positively move forward with their lives. The strengths based programme focuses on long-term wellbeing and designed to address the impact of abuse and enable victims to develop future protective behaviors.
The Change 4U Programme offers bespoke support across Cornwall to those who are displaying abusive behaviours within their intimate relationships. Provided in a variety of formats including phone, video and face to face, and offering one-to-one and group options, change 4U gives provides tools and techniques to help people cease abusive behaviour, whilst exploring a variety of topics that are relevant to both clients and their families.
The Reconnect Programme is a needs-led support programme tailored towards children and young people (CYP) aged 5-17 years of age. It focuses on the long-term recovery and resilience of children and young people affected by domestic abuse.
Our aims are to improve safety, self-confidence, raise aspirations, and assist children and young people to identify individual goals, barriers to achievement, additional support required and progression routes.
We are seeking dedicated professional's to join our Cornwall team as sessional project worker's who will deliver direct support to people who have been affected by domestic Abuse
You need to be compassionate, non-judgemental, experienced in risk management and safety planning, as well as being a skilled communicator who is able to develop partnership relationships in a multi-disciplinary team.
You need to be a “real human” and have a diverse set of skills and be able to work with people either on their own or as part of a group. You'll need to demonstrate you are able to build relationships and get alongside people regardless of their situation and perceived barriers. We want to squash this myth that people are “hard to reach” – it's about us being more accessible.
You 100% need to be a team player. There will be times where you have to work on your own, but there will also be a strong team ethos throughout the Safer Futures Team and beyond

- Provide 1- 1 and group support to people affected by domestic abuse
- Enable our clients to access further learning and development opportunities from the partner agencies and to assist the them in achieving their personal development goals.
- Work with partner agencies to publicise the work of the project and encourage referrals to the project.

We will train you to provide personalised support to our adult residents. You will follow individual support plans to meet the needs and aspirations of each person. The focus is developing independent living skills: personal hygiene, meal preparation, exercise, leisure activities, socialising – the daily routine of regular life.
It is a really varied job, with all kinds of different activities to organise and participate in art, crafts, music, sports, gardening, shopping, swimming, college, employment and countless others. We also have our own indoor and outdoor gymnasiums.

BrainKind Neurological Centre York is a purpose-built 40-bed state-of-the-art independent hospital., providing high-quality neuropsychiatric, neurobehavioral assessment and rehabilitation for people following an acquired brain injury with a range of additional mental health and physical conditions.
As a Rehabilitation Support Worker, you will provide support to our service users appropriate to their individual needs ensuring that each service user completes their rehabilitation plans and is an independent as possible. You will ensure that our service Users have maximum involvement in their own activities and decision making.
