We expect candidates to be able to demonstrate clear potential to operate effectively in coaching sport to teenagers, delivering pastoral care and making a contribution to other areas of school life. We do not expect candidates to have experience of all these areas, but those without direct experience should make it clear in their application the skills and experiences which will enable them to thrive in these
areas.Candidates typically come to these roles either directly from university, from professional sport or from other employment. Those on a ‘sandwich’ year during a university course will be considered, but the preference is for candidates who might be able to offer more than one year to the College. Candidates who are successful in their first year with us are often supported through an on-the-job PGCE in their second year, enabling them to progress to a full-time teaching role as a fully qualified teacher 24 months after starting.
Ultimately, we are looking for individuals who foster a passion for learning and who can demonstrate an ability and genuine desire to develop pupils to their fullest potential. Successful candidates will be self-reliant and adaptable, with high levels of initiative.
