Hospice Nurse Band 5 (Grade 5 equiv.)
We’re expanding our team and are looking for more Nurses to join our charity.
You’ll be joining an award-winning, certified Outstanding team, who do all they can to empower children and families to experience as much life as possible.
As a member of the Noah’s Ark Nurse and Specialist Care team, you’ll be encouraged to put the experience of children and families at the heart of all you do. As well as understanding their care needs, you’ll get to know what’s important to each child you support – whether it’s knowing what their favourite song to listen to is, how they like to play, or what sooths them when they are sad – at Noah’s Ark it’s so important that each child is treated as an individual. You’ll focus on what children can do, rather than their limitations, and will support them to experience things they may never have thought possible.
And by providing care for children, either at our state-of-the art building, The Ark, or out in the community, you’ll be allowing parents and cares to take some time for themselves. The hours of care you’ll provide will make a huge difference, allowing them to live life outside of their child’s condition. By creating this time, you’ll be creating choice – something which can feel impossible for the families we support.
Your commitment to children and families will continue through to end-of-life care. You’ll be a guiding reassuring presence for families and working with other healthcare professionals to create as much comfort as possible. You’ll be providing essential symptom management to help to bring comfort. During this time you’ll continue to treat each child and family as individual by taking the time to understand what is important to them. You’ll help to create memories to enable as good a death as possible.
A natural and experienced leader, you’ll deliver high quality and effective training to other members of the team and family members

ABOUT YOU
You’ll be an experienced Nurse (Band 5 equivalent) with excellent clinical and communication skills. You’ll be able to work collaboratively with experience leading a multi-skilled team, or can demonstrable experience of leadership with the support from a lead nurse.
Aside from experience, we look for individuals who share our core values of kindness, excellence and courage. We’ll support you to go above and beyond to be there for the children and families we support – we ask that you share this mission with us.
You’ll thrive working autonomously, confident in your ability to deliver care on your own out in the community. You’ll know the value of collaboration, and will work closely with your team members, other healthcare professionals and the families you support to provide the very best care.
Creativity and play will be central to your approach to care, with the ability to build long-term relationships with the children and families you care for.
You’ll be qualified in Children’s Nursing and have completed your nursing preceptorship.
Kindly see attached job description for more information about this opportunity.

Do you want to help us improve human health and understand life on Earth? Make your mark by shaping the future to enable or deliver life-changing science to solve some of humanity’s greatest challenges.
Join the Frontier of Human Genomics and Disease Prediction
Become a Group Leader at the Wellcome Sanger Institute
At the Wellcome Sanger Institute, we’re rethinking how human data can be used to understand, predict and ultimately change the course of disease. We’re hiring Group Leaders to join our Human Genetics Programme where large-scale cohorts, longitudinal multi-omics and patient data come together to power predictive models of health and disease.
About the Programme
Our mission is bold: to generate the datasets, build the predictive models and develop the causal understanding needed to predict, prevent and treat human disease. We design and generate large-scale, longitudinal multi-omic resources, tightly linked to detailed patient data, and use these to understand how genetic and environmental variation shape molecular states, trajectories and outcomes. We will use AI, machine learning, and robust causal inference methods to turn that understanding into better risk prediction, diagnosis and treatment, deriving openly accessible predictive models that are generalisable and transferable between populations and clinical contexts.
You’ll join a group of creative faculty comprising Carl Anderson, Emma Davenport, Matthew Hurles, Hilary Martin and Gosia Trynka, with strong links across the Institute’s diverse programmes — Cellular Genomics, Cancer, Ageing and Somatic Mutation,
The programme offers sustained core funding, large-scale technology and informatics platforms and a genuinely collaborative, supportive working environment in the Cambridge–London science hub. If you’re excited by our ambitious mission and want to make a bold, personal contribution to it in an environment that values diverse perspectives and inclusive collaboration, we want to hear from you.
Who We’re Looking For:
We welcome applications from researchers with backgrounds in clinical medicine, human genetics, genomics and multi-omics, epidemiology, statistics, computer science, clinical informatics and AI/ML. We are keen to hear from both clinician scientists and non-clinical/basic scientists. We do not expect any individual to span all of the areas below; we are looking for depth and originality in one or more of them, together with a strong commitment to collaboration.
You might, for example, have expertise in:
-
Human genetics and multi-omics for complex traits and diseases.
-
Epidemiology and longitudinal cohort design and analysis.
-
Electronic health records and real-world data science, including phenotyping and data linkage.
-
Causal inference and statistical methods for target and biomarker prioritisation.
-
Development and application of AI/ML and predictive modelling methods using multi-omic and clinical data.
-

Information for Candidates applying for the role of Data and Examinations Officer Required for April 2026 (however would consider a September start) THE SCHOOL Birkenhead School, founded in 1860, is an HMC independent day school providing education for boys and girls drawn from the whole of the Wirral and as far afield as Chester and North Wales. There are currently some 82 children in Early Years (43 in Nursery aged under 3 years old, 39 in our “Pre-Prep” aged 3 to 5 years old), 293 pupils in the School’s Prep (ages 5-11) and 512 students in Years 7 to Upper Sixth Form. Birkenhead School has been fully co-educational since September 2008, offering the choice of an independent education to all local children. Across the School approximately 45% of students are girls. Situated in the leafy suburb of Oxton, the School enjoys excellent facilities. The main campus has a ‘village green’ atmosphere, with classrooms and laboratories looking out over the cricket square. Recent capital developments have included a new landscaped playground area and an outdoor classroom. There are ongoing and substantial investments in ICT facilities. In addition to the main campus, the School owns 17 acres of playing fields on two sites nearby – the primary one being McAllester Field on Bidston Road. SCHOOL ORGANISATION & VALUES The School comprises Nursery and Pre-Prep (Early Years), Prep and Seniors and integrates their objectives and activities within a ‘One School’ concept. The Headmaster chairs the School’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT) comprising the Head of Prep, Deputy and Assistant Heads, the Designated Safeguarding Lead and the Bursar. Birkenhead School prides itself on being a family school. It is attractive to parents to have all their children in one school, and it is a great advantage for the school to be able to establish strong, long-lasting relationships with families. The move to co-education reinforced this and at present, 217 families have more than one child in the School and 27 have three or four children. A key feature of the School is its strength of community, which runs through the student, staff and parental bodies. The School is embedded within the wider Wirral community, has strong links with local business and charities, and offers an extensive bursary programme. The School aims to inspire students both inside and outside the classroom, knowing each individual and providing them with outstanding opportunities to find their niche. A dedicated, talented and collegiate staff body is required to achieve these aims. The School’s informal motto is Respect, Responsibility and Resilience, to which we have recently added inclusivity, compassion, integrity, humility and courage as defined School values. Birkenhead School recruits on attitude as much as the quality of an individual’s qualifications on paper.
