Job Purpose
Supported by Kibble’s Night Service Managers you will work across Kibble’s Residential and Community Based Services. Main Duties
The direct work with children and young people follows a general pattern that must be tailored to the particular needs and requirements for each individual. This pattern involves 3 main areas;
1. Assessment Phase of the Child or Young Person
- Reading relevant reports and records
- Identifying any particular medical, social, religious or dietary requirements
- Ensuring that next of kin are aware of the location and telephone number of the establishment as well as contact names(s) and visiting times
Ensuring that child or young person:
- Understands the reason for admission
- Is aware of the social and educational programme he/she will be undertaking

2. The Care Programme
The Child and Youth Care Worker will:
- Have direct responsibility for the care and development of a number of children and young people. Each child or young person will have a placement programme involving social and educational targets, which will be regularly reviewed
- Require to liaise with all relevant members of the multi-disciplinary team within the Centre to ensure a mutual understanding of these targets and to monitor and facilitate their achievement
- Require to liaise with the area team social worker to ensure that there is both a mutual understanding of the school’s social and educational targets and a linkage between these targets and the tasks being undertaken by the social worker
- Meet with the parent(s) or other relative(s) of the child or young person to ensure that family contact is continuing, to seek their co-operation in achieving social and educational targets, to ensure that home leave is viable and to assist the linkage between the school’s work and the area team social worker’s tasks. Stokenchurch Dog Rescue (SDR) is looking to secure the services of an externally appointed Dog Trainer who can commit to 6 hours per week to support the development of our centre-based rescue dogs.
As our appointed Trainer, you will work directly with our rescue dogs helping them build the skills and confidence needed for adoption.
SDR is committed to using positive, reward-based reinforcement training methods. To maintain our high welfare standards and ensure our rescue dogs continue to thrive and develop, we require candidates to be ATBC‑registered and ideally CCAB‑certified.
We need the successful externally appointed trainer to help with the following;
- Delivery of dog training and behavioural guidance for our centre dogs
- Creating and implementing written training plans for our centre dogs
- Regularly reviewing the training plans to ensure they remain effective, achievable and supportive of each dog's progress within the kennel environment
- Communicating the training plans clearly to our staff to ensure consistent continuous development for the dogs.
The externally appointed contractor must hold their own public liability insurance to undertake this work. A copy of this policy will be requested for review before their services are engaged.

About the people you will be supporting:
We are a group of people with learning disabilities, that require high levels of support. We have lived together for a number of years. We enjoy spending time together but also have individual interests, to which we need support to be able to take part in
We support people that can demonstrate behaviours that can be considered challenging.
The majority of the people we support need a high level of support with regard to personal care although moving and handling needs are minimal.
Shift Patterns:
Please note that this is a nights role. You will be working from 8:45pm to 8am.
Role Responsibility
Daily support we need from you:
- Assisting with our personal care needs
- To prepare food for us or with our involvement when we want
- Support us with our food and drinks
- Manual handling
- Supporting us with medication including creams and lotions
- Ensuring our record keeping is maintained to the highest standard, this will include finance records as these will be audited
- Help us to manage our money safely
- To help us keep our home clean and tidy
- Ensuring our health and safety is maintained
- Making sure we have an interesting and varied day
- Liaising with the Landlord regarding our tenancies and any repairs.
The Ideal Candidate
Whilst knowledge of our learning disabilities and complex needs would be beneficial, it is not essential; what is essential is that you are:
- Passionate, caring and enthusiastic
- Flexible, patient and non-judgemental
- A great team player with lots of energy
- Able to demonstrate good communication skills, including understanding non-verbal communication
- Able to complete the physical aspects of the role such as manual handling where needed
- Transferable experience of helping people to manage anxiety

Where will I be working?
Pemdale provides residential care and support to six adults over the age of fifty years old, with learning disabilities and other associated health needs, requiring varying levels of support. Pemdale is designed to offer the residents person centred support maximising their opportunities to live life to the full by making their own choices and decisions. We believe that not only do we change the lives of the people we support, but they also change ours.

This is a nights position. You will be working between the hours of 9:30pm - 7:30am.

Our Support Workers make a real difference to our residents every day and your professionalism, teamed with kindness and compassion, will be at the core of everything you do. Responsible for keeping wakeful watch on the security and safety of our residents and the home in general, you’ll also be supporting residents with their personal care needs and providing companionship.
