Position: Family Carer Project Worker – Kent and Medway

The Role:
To utilise your lived experience to support the delivery of the Forward Together Project plan to improve services and support for people with severe learning disabilities whose behaviour challenges, and their family carers in the Southeast.
You will:
- Use your experience and local/regional knowledge to identify key individuals, groups and initiatives to engage in the project
- Work collaboratively with family carers and stakeholders, facilitate meetings and implement follow up actions
- Contribute your own lived experience
You will have:
- Lived experience of caring for a relative with severe learning disabilities and behaviour described as challenging
- The ability to create and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with family carers and other stakeholders
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- A passion for making a difference to the lives of individuals with severe learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge, and their families

The Bridge Foundation: The Bridge in Schools Placement Opportunity for Honorary Child Counsellor/Therapist The Bridge Foundation provides a specialist mental health service for staff, parents, children and families in primary and secondary schools. Honorary Counsellors/ Psychotherapists are asked to carry a caseload of up to 4 sessions per week. There is no remuneration, but in exchange for offering these hours, Honorary counsellors/psychotherapists are given fortnightly clinical supervision with an experienced child therapist, attend school team meetings, and are invited to attend staff clinical meetings and CPD. The clinical hours are arranged at the convenience of the therapist/school. All supervision and service meetings take place each Wednesday morning during term time at the Bridge Foundation. The honorary counsellor/therapist will be based in a school serving a deprived area of the city. S/he will provide counseling/therapy sessions for troubled children/young people who have exhausted the school pastoral support system, and whose emotional needs remain a cause for concern. Case management will be provided by the Bridge therapist in post at the school. . The post will be for up to 1.5 days per week, comprised of 4 sessions in school and half a day to attend supervision and team meetings on a Wednesday morning at the Bridge Foundation. However, we would consider less hours dependent on applications received. The time commitment is a minimum of one year. Confirmation of appointment would be subject to two satisfactory references, of which one should be from a current clinical supervisor. Child protection and other relevant training is provided in line with service requirements. Honorary therapists are also entitled to free places at Bridge conferences. You will have a strong Christian faith, have worked or volunteered with children or young people, and be passionate about encouraging children, young people, and their volunteer helpers. You will be educated to A-Level (or degree standard) or have an equivalent level of experience of working with children and/or young people.
This is available as a full-time position (37.5 hours a week), or as two part-time positions for a children’s coordinator and a youth coordinator (19 hours a week). In both cases, candidates can choose to work 52 weeks a year or 41 weeks a year mainly in term-time. You will receive close support including at the weekly church leadership meetings, and during regular one-to-ones with our vicar.
The salary for a full-time, full-year position is £27,441 with 28 days’ holiday including bank holidays. Salary and holidays will be pro-rata if working part-time and/or fewer weeks.

Each partner employs Independent Sexual Violence Advocates (ISVA) to deliver advocacy, practical and emotional support to survivors of sexual violence and abuse, both within and outside of the criminal justice system. You will be joining an existing team and will provide high quality support and advocacy to children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse or harm, and to their families, using a trauma informed approach. We are proud that our services meet the national ISVA quality standards and will require the successful applicant to complete the ISVA development programme at the first available opportunity, if they haven’t already done so. The role will be closely linked to other services, both internal and external, and you will work flexibly and collaboratively to enable children to access the appropriate services at the right time. Your work will be overseen by the ISVA Lead, who will also provide you with regular casework supervision and line management. About the Role:
The support worker provides flexible support to children, young people and their families within both group environments (building based and community based)
They will work with young people and children aged 8-25 years with Autism Spectrum Conditions and associated disabilities to help develop individual skills and confidence in all aspects of daily life, including building positive relationships, activities, leisure and social skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
· To support children and young people who attend our groups to remove barriers so that they can engage as fully as possible in order to benefit from the group objectives and realise their abilities.
· To support children and young people to engage in activities that broaden their opportunities to be part of their local community.
· To work closely with the Group Lead and other Support Workers to provide a safe and enjoyable group environment for the children, young people and their families.
· Develop close professional relationships with colleagues, children and young people and maintain up-to date picture of the individual needs of each service user.
· To provide personal care if required to children and young people where needed whilst maintaining the dignity of the individual.
· To support children and young people to attend the groups by providing support prior and after sessions where needed for individuals.
· To provide support to the Group Lead to document and reflect on group sessions.
· To comply fully with Aspens Charities expected practices and procedures including Child Safeguarding.

We are looking for someone to join our excellent team on an ad-hoc basis to support a 10 year-old with learning disabilities and provide occasional support for his 6 year old younger brother (who does not have a learning disability).
This is an excellent opportunity to work on an interdisciplinary Early Intensive Behavioural Intervention Team (including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and physiotherapy). The main part of the post is to support a young 10-year-old boy to pursue his hobbies/interests and provide support with learning and communication through play therapy. Direction will be given by parents and full training will be provided on the job.
Applicant will support child using different learning strategies and communication devices (proloquo2go). Opportunities will also be provided to develop skills in using a range of different tools and techniques.
- Duties will include supporting the individual to undertake a variety of social, learning, toileting and physio activities. You may very occasional be asked to carry out light domestic duties, such as tidying toys and tidying 10 year old’s bedroom.
- Experience of working with children with learning difficulties would be beneficial. Although you will be working with various professionals, you will report directly to parents and have weekly updates on progress.
- The post holder will also be expected to support with personal care.
This post is suited to someone that is reliable, kind, uses initiative and is trustworthy and willing to learn on the job. We looking for someone who is flexible – but at the same time we work with you around your schedule.
Working hours are Wednesday 3.15pm – 6pm and Friday 12.45pm – 6pm.

We are seeking to appoint a part-time Children, Youth & Schools Worker, based at
Illingworth Moor Methodist Church, Keighley Road, Halifax, HX2 9LL.
If you’re passionate about sharing God’s love with children, young people and families, and excited
about growing faith with those groups, then we’d love to hear from you. We are looking for
someone who can develop our existing children, youth and schools’ work and explore new
initiatives to support families within the church and wider community. Previous experience of
working with children and young people in a paid or voluntary capacity is essential.
The successful applicant will be required to develop the mission of the church through working with
children, young people and families based in Illingworth, primarily in both church and school
settings. This will be achieved by organising church activities and working in conjunction with other
young people’s groups, partner organisations, agencies and volunteers.

NEXT STEPS & MAIN TERMS
15 hours per week, with core hours worked 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Mondays,
5:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesdays, and up to 6 Sunday mornings per year
(to lead Parade services). The remaining hours can be worked flexibly,
Monday to Friday, in agreement with your Line Manager, which may
include some occasional evening working. Actual days, start and finish

will not be expected to work on more than four days in a calendar week.
