Turning Point support individuals across the country and we are currently recruiting support workers for supported living locations across Cheltenham in Woodmancote and Hatherley.
Where will I be working?
You will be working at one of our supported living services in Cheltenham – GL51 or GL52. We offer 24 hour support to people with LD (learning disabilities) and Autism. The level of care required will vary across our services. Some of the people we support have a profound and multiple learning disability and complex health needs others need assistance with daily activities, personal care, medication and mobility as well as daily living tasks.
We endeavour to create positive family relationships offering a good circle of support. There is a strong focus on supporting individuals' lives in a person centred way which includes various activities, shopping, managing own budgets and cooking. We tailor our services to enable people to be as independent as possible.
Shift Patterns
This is a nights role. You will be working a range of shifts from 9:15pm to 7:15am
Please note that this role is working 3 out of 4 weekends and 2 days during the week for 1 week.
Role Responsibility
What will I be doing?
This is a hands-on job in which no two days are the same. Your duties will include:
- promoting the independence of people we support
- supporting a full range of daily activities including cleaning and cooking, days out or going away on holiday
- arranging activities in the home and in the local community
- developing residents' life skills and personal interests
- helping residents stay safe and healthy
- assisting with personal care needs
- manual handling
- supporting people with medication
- ensuring record keeping is maintained to the required standard at all times and contributing to service monitoring requirements.

What skills and qualities do I need to have?
Whilst knowledge of learning disabilities and complex needs would be beneficial, it isn't essential. What is essential is that you are:
- passionate, caring and enthusiastic
- flexible, patient and non-judgemental
- a great team player with lots of energy
- able to demonstrate good communication skills
- able to complete the physical aspects of the role such as manual handling where needed
- transferable experience of helping people to manage anxiety

What You’ll Be Doing:
Response is looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and approachable person to join the Rowan House team. Rowan House is home to 25 residents with acute mental health needs. Our roles offer employees variety where every day is different whilst also giving a great sense of pride seeing the positive impact you can have on others. Our clients are with Response to gain skills in living independently, while also focussing on improving their mental health.
Responses aim is to enhance “co-production working” between staff and residents so we work together to develop Responses activities and services. We want you to support us to support our clients in looking after their physical health and wellbeing through diet and nutrition.
Overall job responsibility:
- Provide staple meals for residents.
- Work with the support team to engage with residents around their physical health and wellbeing of diet and nutrition.
- Oversee the daily running of the in-house catering provided by Apetito including heating and serving of Apetito meals on a daily basis.
- Oversee the daily preparation of lunch and supper meals including meals not provided by Apetito on a daily basis.
- Ensure the residents have a person-centred approach with regards to their meal choices and that their dietary needs are taken into consideration when planning menus.
- Assist management with the menu planning and ordering process for food deliveries.
- Keep a clean and tidy work environment to comply with food and hygiene safety regulations.
- Support residents who wish to volunteer kitchen duties in accordance with their care plans, risk assessments and food safety guidance.
The Successful Applicant:

We're looking for someone who not only brings the right knowledge and experience, but also the vision, drive, and determination to help shape the future of our repairs and maintenance services. This is a real opportunity to make a difference, enhance our service delivery, and contribute to the growth of our Asset Management function.
We currently manage over 900 units of supported accommodation. This role is key to ensuring the effective delivery of our reactive repairs and voids service. You’ll lead our In-House Repairs Team and oversee external contractors, ensuring all works are completed to a high standard, on time, and in line with health, safety, and compliance requirements. Regular engagement with staff, contractors, and clients means strong communication skills are essential.
The role involves frequent travel across our housing portfolio, so access to suitable transport is necessary. While the role is hybrid, regular presence in our offices and properties is required.
We’re looking for someone who can:
- Demonstrate experience improving service delivery in repairs and maintenance
- Deliver reactive repairs, maintenance, and void management in a housing context
- Manage in-house trade operatives and external contractors
- Monitor and meet KPIs, contractual obligations, and budgetary targets
- Interrogate and analyze data trends to reduce costs and improve operational delivery
- Evidence contract management and procurement experience and working methodologies
- Produce clear specifications and ensure works meet required standards
- Understand relevant property legislation and standards in social and supported housing
- Organise workload effectively and provide regular progress updates
- Use IT systems confidently and efficiently
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and colleagues
