ABOUT THIS ROLE
The co-opted NED role will commence in role immediately following appointment and ratification by the Board. It is intended that the successful candidate will be put forwards for election at the Badminton England AGM in June 2026.
The successful candidate will be appointed for an initial term of 3 years which may be renewed for a maximum of 3 terms. It is expected that Non-Executive Directors will be required to commit the equivalent of up to 15 days per year. This will consist of attending up to 6 board meetings per year, as well as attending key events. Most meetings take place at National Badminton Centre, Milton Keynes or online.
The role is non-remunerated, but Badminton England will reimburse expenses for Board and ambassadorial activities.

Badminton England is seeking a candidate with strategic legal expertise who can support the work of the Badminton England board.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Experience:
- Strategic legal experience – including commercial and contract law.
- Experience of complex organisations with multiple stakeholders.
- An understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of a corporate body with governance structures.
- Experience of working in a high-profile environment, with an understanding of managing press, communications and reputation.
Person Specification:
- Qualified lawyer, solicitor or barrister with a recognised law degree (LLB or equivalent).
- Significant experience in corporate and commercial law.
- Prior board-level or senior advisory experience (preferred).
- Knowledge of the sporting landscape and legal issues facing the sports industry.
- Someone who upholds the highest standards of integrity and probity.
- Ability to absorb complex information and provide Board level guidance and counsel.
- A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Willingness to challenge in a constructive manner and to be proactive in supporting the board to achieve its objectives.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to speak candidly with tact and diplomacy.

Workforce Development Manager Southeast England
Join our Workforce Development team and play a key role in growing the profile of CIMSPA through professional recognition, partnerships and local skills. You’ll lead on delivering local Sport & Physical Activity Skills Plans, build long-term employer relationships, and drive engagement with CIMSPA’s professional pathways in your region as part of our UK-wide team. Teamwork, peer learning and innovation are central to successfully delivering against our commercial and Sport England targets.
We’re looking for a natural people-connector with strong partnership management experience, commercial acumen, and a deep understanding of the sport and physical activity sector. In this role you’ll spend significant time working with our stakeholders and influencing at all levels, supporting employers to develop and recognise their workforce, and driving a more skilled, impactful workforce in the sector.
You’ll have a track record of meeting targets, generating income across multiple revenue streams, and understanding education and workforce development needs. To really thrive in this role, you will be someone who communicates with ease and genuinely connects with people. Extensive travel across the Southeast and regular time at our Loughborough Head Office (expenses covered) are required.

Local Influencing
- Lead the development and delivery of local skills plans with regional stakeholders.

- Position CIMSPA within wider local and cross-sector skills initiatives.
Tracking & Measurement
- Monitor and report on partnership activity, income performance, and skills plan progress.
- Use Dynamics CRM to manage data, track interactions, and support reporting on trends.
Communication
- Work with Marcomms, accreditation, and education teams to create content, support onboarding, and align development opportunities.

Background:
Northampton Saints is a professional rugby club whose senior men’s team plays in the Gallagher PREM, the top-flight of English men’s rugby. Since 2019 the club has had a Women’s Rugby partnership with Loughborough University. Under this arrangement Loughborough Lightning – who compete in the PWR (Premiership Women’s Rugby – the top tier of English women’s rugby) are the joint Loughborough Lightning & Northampton Saints elite women’s team. Through the partnership we aim to drive performance outcomes on and off the pitch to ensure the team’s ongoing success at the pinnacle of professional English rugby.
The 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup saw sixteen Loughborough Lightning international players feature in the tournament, four of whom took to the pitch as part of the title-winning England team. Lightning finished 6th place in the 2024/25 season and have ambitions to compete at the highest level.

Role purpose:
The holder of this role will lead on the Women’s rugby partnership for Northampton Saints, driving all aspects of the operational and commercial delivery as well as being the lead point of liaison between Northampton Saints and Loughborough University.
Principal responsibilities:
- Lead the development and delivery of Northampton Saints’ strategy for women’s and girls’ rugby
- Drive the partnership with Loughborough University to deliver the shared Loughborough Lightning strategy across performance, operations, and commercial goals.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders including Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR), RFU, Loughborough University, and regional rugby bodies.
- Support the Head Coach with player retention and recruitment as and when required by representing and championing the partnership

- Lead the commercial strategy for women’s rugby, driving financial sustainability, sponsorship growth, and increased fan engagement.

- Work with Northampton Saints Community department to grow women and girls’ grassroots participation and increase supporter numbers for the women’s game
- Act as Northampton Saints’ senior lead representative for all Loughborough Lightning staff and players, ensuring clear communication and alignment with strategic objectives
- Collaborate with cross-departmental heads to deliver coordinated planning and performance across all operational and commercial areas.
- Manage the Women’s Rugby budget responsibly, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
- Act as the leading advocate for women’s rugby within the Northampton Saints organisation and wider rugby community.
- Monitor progress and continuously evolve the programme to drive long-term success on and off the field.
Person specification:
- A commitment and passion for driving the women’s game within rugby union
- Experience of working in a management or leadership capacity in a commercial or operational role within a sporting or other relevant organisation
- An understanding of the English rugby and / or women’s sporting environment, challenges and opportunities
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels
- An authentic, grounded and pragmatic leadership style, with the ability to operate both on the ground and in the boardroom

We’re seeking an experienced strategic leader at senior management level, to join our AoC Sport Board. AoC Sport is the membership organisation for further education (FE) colleges, leading the development of sport and physical activity in 16+ education. We believe that sport and physical activity are essential components of college life, giving students significant advantages in education, employment and health. Our vision is for every college student to participate regularly in sport or physical activity. Our purpose is to promote, support and deliver college sport and physical activity.
As a Board Member, you’ll help set our strategic direction, provide constructive challenge and oversight, and champion sport and physical activity across the FE sector, ensuring strong governance, financial stewardship, and positive impact for colleges.
Commitment: Around four Board meetings a year (c2 hours each) plus reasonable preparation and contribution between meetings. This is an unpaid non-executive role; expenses are covered.

It would strongly suit someone with experience of being a senior commercial leader in marketing, sponsorship or advertising. Experience of philanthropic giving and trusts and foundations, meanwhile, is desirable but not essential.
