Support Line Volunteer
This unique role will give you the opportunity to use your compassionate listening skills to make a difference to the lives of parents and carers whose children are being criminally or sexually exploited. This is a remote volunteer role that you can do from your home, where you will talk to affected parents and carers over the phone.

Every day, parents and carers reach out to Ivison Trust because their children are being exploited. They’re scared, overwhelmed, and often feel completely alone. That’s where you come in.
Last year, our amazing call line volunteers supported over 550 parents and carers — offering them a safe space to be heard, understood, and supported. Just by picking up the phone, you could be that calm voice in a storm, helping someone feel less isolated and more hopeful.

Location: Remote, from your home. Commitment required: Ideally one 2 or 3 hour evening shift per month on either a Friday or Saturday evening.
Our Support Line Operator Volunteers will be supported during their session by an on-call manager. Volunteers will receive regular support, supervision, and opportunities to connect with peers.

Work with parents affected by child sexual and criminal exploitation 1. To work with multi-agency partners, attend team briefings, and take on referrals of parents whose children are at risk of/or are being sexually /criminally exploited. 2. To work with parents to ascertain the level of appropriate emotional and practical support they require. 3. To form and maintain supportive, empowering relationships with the parents affected by CCE/CSE to build their self-esteem, confidence, knowledge and resilience to enable them to maintain the family unit and effectively safeguard their child. To acknowledge and respect the crucial role in safeguarding that they bring. 4. To equip parents with information and understanding of the processes by which children and young people are groomed and coerced into exploitation. 5. To provide information to parents about the roles of safeguarding practitioners and keep them abreast of the response to their case where appropriate. 6. To act as a bridge between the agencies and parents, taking on an advocacy role for individual parents with services, and feeding back information from parents into the team where this is appropriate. 7. To give support and information to families going through the judicial process, from referral of their case to the Crown Prosecution Service through to post-trial re-adjustment. 8. To respond appropriately and effectively to any child protection/safeguarding concerns as and when they arise. 9. To participate in Common Assessment Framework (CAF), Team Around the Child (TAC), child protection and other formal support processes for parents/carers when required. 10. Link parents/carers and where necessary, other family members, into services and support appropriate to their needs (i.e. health services, training, positive activities, counselling). 11. External relations, training and networking 1. To promote and maintain good public relations with local partner agencies on behalf of Ivison Trust. 2. Parent Liaison Officer
We are looking for an experienced Parent Liaison Officer to join our caring and passionate team and make a lasting impact for children and families affected by child exploitation.
Your role as Parent Liaison Officer will be to work with multi-agency partners, tackling child exploitation as an independent source of support and contact for parents whose children are being sexually and criminally exploited.
You will liaise between statutory agencies and families in order to maximise the ability of all parties to safeguard a child at risk of/being sexually and criminally exploited and promote best practice in the work of professionals to safeguard children.
Our successful candidate will have an understanding of issues faced by young people and their families, particularly in relation to exploitation and abuse, as well as knowledge of safeguarding agencies and LSCB roles. You will have a commitment to the ethos of Ivison Trust, working with parents as valued partners in tackling child exploitation. You will also need a relevant qualification.
Responsible to: Head of Parent Services
Hours of work: 22.5 hrs between Monday-Friday, with occasional out of hours
