Reception Volunteer
Longfield Community Hospice, Gloucester
Time Commitment: To cover regular Thursday afternoons fortnightly plus Bank cover Monday–Friday (am & pm)
Could you spare a regular few hours to be the first point of contact at Longfield? As a Reception Volunteer you’ll welcome visitors and outpatients, answer and redirect calls, log Wellbeing Centre patients, and help the hospice run smoothly by providing friendly, organised reception cover.
You will be asked to use the telephone system and our patient/admin IT systems, make and offer refreshments when appropriate, and occasionally assist with light admin or cash handling. A volunteer badge must be worn and appropriate professional dress is required.

Warehouse Operative Volunteer
Location: Longfield Community Hospice WarehouseTime Commitment: At least 4 hours a week
Could you give a few hours a week to support the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our charity shops running? We’re looking for Warehouse Operative Volunteers to help ensure donated items are safely received, sorted, and sent out to our shops, supporting the vital fundraising that enables our hospice care.
You will play an important part in preparing stock for our retail team, helping with tasks such as unloading donations, sorting items like clothing, furniture, and bric-a-brac, and maintaining a safe and organised warehouse environment. This role is ideal for someone who is physically active, enjoys practical tasks, and works well as part of a friendly team.

Book Scanning Assistant
Location: Thrupp, Stroud Time Commitment: At least 4 hours a week
Could you give a few hours each week to help us generate vital funds for hospice care through online book sales? We’re looking for Book Scanning Assistant Volunteers to support our retail operations by scanning donated books using World of Books technology, identifying titles suitable for resale, and preparing them for dispatch.
In this role, you’ll help keep our book stock organised and ready for sale. Tasks include scanning books to check ISBNs, sorting them into categories such as accepted, rejected, or damaged, and preparing accepted books for collection. You’ll also help maintain a tidy and safe sorting area and work closely with our warehouse and shop teams. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys practical tasks, has an eye for detail, and is comfortable using basic technology.
