As a Trustee, you will:

Help set and shape English National Ballet’s strategy and ensure robust governance and
financial sustainability. -
Ensure compliance with charity and company
law and alignment with our charitable objectives. -
Act as an ambassador for English National
Ballet, broadening our reach and impacts, from
museums/exhibition. -
Champion our work by supporting activities,
fostering networks, and promoting our mission.
Person Specification
We are looking for individuals who are respected in their field, bring professional rigour, and share our belief in the transformative power of the arts. Previous board experience is welcome but not essential—we value fresh perspectives and collaborative thinkers who can challenge constructively and inspire confidence.
- Learning & Engagement:Leads on programme development from museums/exhibition sector background to help us think about and develop other types of accessible public programme.
- Digital Innovation:Senior-level digital networks, relationships and influence – able to open doors to partnerships and opportunities that might otherwise not be possible for us. This could be someone from a platform, technology or innovation background who could make connections with partners, allowing us to explore ways to use our content to reach new audiences and grow revenue via new relationships with social media companies, fitness technology, educational app companies etc.
- UK Cultural Sector Knowledge:Profile in and knowledge of a breadth of cultural disciplines. This person may or may not necessarily be based in London. You may already have a passion for ballet or be new to the art form, but you will recognise the importance of culture in society and want to make it accessible to all. Emotional intelligence, strong communication skills, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion are key.

- Commitment to ENB's aims and values, with time to devote to the role.
- Understanding of Trustee's legal duties and responsibilites.
- Integrity, independent judgement, and strategic thinking.
- A clear commitment to arts and culture and its role in society.

Ballet Footwear Manager

About the role
English National Ballet are looking for a Ballet Footwear Manager
You’ll oversee the full provision of footwear for all dancers, artists and students performing with the company, from managing a full inventory and liaising large-scale orders from shoe suppliers, to carrying out alterations to shoes for the individual needs of each dancer and for the costume requirements of each performance.
The role combines first-class technical knowledge of ballet footwear with meticulous organisational skills in a key managerial role within English National Ballet’s technical department.
Your main
responsibilitiesasBallet Footwear Managerwill include:- Coordinate and manage an effective service for measurements, fittings and timely provision of ballet footwear for all dancers, artists, character artists and students rehearsing or performing with the Company
- Liaise with choreographers, designers, and wardrobe staff to meet artistic needs
- Prepare and finish pointe shoes to individual dancer specifications
- Dye, paint, and alter shoes to meet costume and design requirements
- Manage an efficient stock monitoring and distribution system, track stock levels, anticipate requirements, and ensure timely reordering
- As ENB is a touring company, be prepared to travel as needed and work evenings and weekends during performance weeks for any production requirements
Key Selection Criteria
- Experience in wardrobe, costume, or footwear management, preferably in ballet or performing arts with strong knowledge of requirements for pointe shoes, ballet footwear, and character/theatrical shoes
- Ability to prepare ballet footwear to specified design and production needs, including dyeing, painting, reinforcing, and sewing
- Experience in working to a production schedule, with good planning skills and the ability to assess own workload capacity including planning orders, deliveries, distribution and lead times needed
- Strong ability to maintain positive working relations with dancers, artists, team members, creatives, Artistic team members and stakeholders
- Good negotiation skills and ability to manage supplier relationships
