Students combine their CYM studies with their general education in local schools, coming together each week to learn under the guidance of London’s leading professional performers and educators. Many students go on to study music full-time at university or conservatoire and pursue professional careers, while others follow different paths enriched by the skills, confidence, and experiences gained at CYM. London Schools Symphony Orchestra CYM also manages the London Schools Symphony Orchestra (LSSO), a flagship youth orchestra with over 70 years of history, providing exceptional orchestral training for talented young musicians aged 13–19. The LSSO runs three holiday courses annually, working with internationally renowned conductors and soloists. Purpose of Post The post-holder will lead on the design and delivery of CYM’s programmes and curriculum, taking responsibility for timetabling and overseeing operational and administrative functions to ensure a coherent, high-quality offer that supports student progress and development. In addition, the post-holder will have full responsibility for the London Schools Symphony Orchestra (LSSO). The post-holder will provide artistic, pastoral, and operational leadership for its courses, concerts, tours, staff, and students, ensuring it remains a flagship orchestra for young London musicians and a sector-leading initiative. The role also involves contributing to the strategic development of CYM within the Guildhall Young Artists network, building external partnerships, and deputising for the Head of CYM as required. Contract The position is offered on a permanent basis. Salary The salary range for this job is £57,240 - £64,610 per annum inclusive of all allowances. This figure will be reviewed annually from 1 July in line with the pay award for other salaried staff within the City of London Corporation. Pension The pension scheme provided by the City of London is the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). The LGPS is a public sector, statutory, funded, defined benefit pension scheme. The HR Business Partner will work as a part of the local HR team based at the Guildhall North Wing. The specialist support around Occupational Health, Pay and Grading, Learning and Development, Policy development etc is provided by the Corporate (City of London) HR team. Purpose of Post To deliver a professional HR service to allocated business areas, providing HR advice and support considering business needs as well as legislative and procedural frameworks and to build close relationships and deep understanding of the business areas. To work closely with the Head of HR and HR BPs to enable the delivery of HR strategy and projects at the Guildhall School. Contract The position is offered on a Permanent basis. Salary The salary range for this job is £49,140 to £55,000 per annum (inclusive of Inner London Weighting) per annum inclusive of all allowances. This figure will be reviewed annually from 1 July in line with the pay award for other salaried staff within the City of London Corporation. Pension The pension scheme provided by the City of London is the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). The LGPS is a public sector, statutory, funded, defined benefit pension scheme. Benefits are accrued based upon scheme member’s salary and the length of time for which they are a member of the scheme. You will automatically be admitted to the City of London Corporation’s Pension Scheme. Member contributions are based upon the rate of pensionable pay received by the scheme member. Hours of Work Normal hours of work are 35 hours per week (9.00am-5.00pm) with one hour lunch breaks, Monday to Friday, inclusive but the post holder shall be expected to work the hours necessary to carry out the duties of the position.
