Mink Control Officer
Salary: £26,450 - £27,580 per annum
Contract: Fixed Term until 30 June 2027
Hours: 35 hours per week. Flexibility in working pattern, in agreement with line manager
Based: The Lodge, Littlemore, Oxford with travel to field sites required. Hybrid working available. Please note, from 1st April 2026 our office will be based at Compass House, Farmoor Court, Farmoor, OX2 9LU

The Mink Control Officer will continue the momentum of our mink control work across the 3 counties over the past 2 years, focusing on engaging landowners and volunteers to trap and dispatch mink using mink rafts set up with traps and remote monitoring alarm units.
The role sits within the External Affairs and Landscape Recovery Directorate and will work closely with colleagues in the Mammal Team to integrate the work with our long-term Water Vole Recovery Project.
What you’ll be doing;
- Co-ordinating, expanding and helping to deliver a programme of mink control across the 3 counties
- Developing and maintaining relationships with landowners and local partners
- Training landowners and volunteers to use mink rafts to trap and humanely dispatch mink
- Monitoring remote trap alarm units and following up on activation or error messages
- Collating trapping data and providing on-going support to landowners
- Promoting the project through targeted talks and written articles

- Someone able to work with and enthuse landowners and project partners
- Mammal trapping, handling and species control skills and knowledge
- The ability to share knowledge and train others
- Good knowledge of riparian mammal identification
- The ability to rapidly learn new technology and software

Duty Manager
Salary: £10,192 (pro rata) per annum (£14 per hour, FTE £25,480)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 14 hours per week. Worked as 2 days per week, on a 3-week rota basis, to include one weekend and occasional bank holidays. Ad hoc additional hours may also be available.

The Duty Manager will support the vision by providing a positive experience to visitors of the Nature Discovery Centre and increasing the engagement of people with nature.
The centre provides information and learning on the reserve, conservation activities and wildlife, guided walks, a café and shop. Activities are supported by a team of volunteers.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing a positive experience for visitors to the centre – excellent customer service, handling any issues in a professional manner
- Opening and closing the centre
- Coordinating staff and volunteers during the shift to adapt and respond to changing circumstances as required
- Helping ensure the centre is kept up to high standards of tidiness and cleanliness
What we’re looking for
- Ability to deal with the public, and volunteers in a friendly and professional manner in a variety of situations
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to work under pressure
- Ability to handle cash accurately, and complete Level 2 Food Safety certification, First Aid at Work, and Fire Marshal training (training provided)

Café Shift Leader
Salary: £13,760 (pro rata) per annum (£24,697 FTE), £13.57 per hour

The Café Shift Leader will help nature recover by delivering an excellent guest experience at our busy café located in College Lake nature reserve, Tring.
What you’ll be doing
- Food and drink preparation, including cooking a basic menu and baking.
- Supervising the daily operation of our busy café to deliver a positive guest experience and maximise income opportunities.
- Carrying out the daily opening and closing procedures for the café including food safety and hygiene checks.
- Assist the Café Supervisor with ordering the ordering of stock and developing a vibrant seasonal menu for the café and events hosted at the reserve.
What we’re looking for
- Café or similar customer focused hospitality environment skills
- Baking, cooking, or other food preparation skills
- Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification with ability to attain Food Hygiene Level 3
- A calm and welcoming approach in dealing with the public and colleagues
- Ability to coordinate a team and resources to adapt to changing demands in the café
